One reason for moving to Thailand

It seems after the dark continent Thailand is a place where the use of cash is king. Whilst other regions of the world are rapidly moving to a cashless society Thailand's area is just 2% usage of electronic money. Some say a cashless society is good some highlight problems which may arrive overnight.

The Shift To A Cashless Society Is Snowballing | Zero Hedge

Good or bad that's the way in Thailand.
A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.

Was in the UK recently. Was asked for all sorts of proof of earnings just to top-up an existing UK account with some cash I'd exchanged from here in Thailand..

Thailand is heading for a cashless society as well. It is coming quicker than one thinks. Ok it might be 10 years away but...

As we know banks don't like cash because they lend out more money than they have cash in hand so if we all asked for it....

Plus of course they want us to spend more than we earn so...
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

Independent familiar communities of a self-sufficient and self-reliant manner.
Existing for ages as it still does. Just not recognized as such by conventional circles.

I hope that means Thailand where the rich get richer and the poor poorer.
Anything else you are deluding yourself Phra Jeff.

The rural farming communities of Isaan are booming. No need to send the daughters off anymore right? Just head out to your local self sufficient money lender..

Need to get out more from those lovely and isolated gated communities, instead of repeating what you heard and read heresay, with the usual culturally-centric illusion.

Real exposure and experiences are quite the learning vehicle.
    You should try it.

The Thai have a well known proclivity for debt, irresponsible gambling, and excessive consumption to show 'Face'. It is not just restricted to Thailand either- a survey of the most prominent (ie biggest) bad debtors in Australian casino's conspicuously stars the Thai.

Debit cards, OK- but credit cards should rightfully be restricted here until they can become more responsible consumers.

Eradication of cash is, at least if you read places like Zero Hedge, more to do with being able to impose negative interest rates. As long as you have access to cash, it's impossible to push interest rates below zero but get rid of cash and you can force people to spend, and with the velocity of money continuing to slow, that's very tempting for the governments of some countries (though not, as far as I know, Thailand at the moment).

    There isn't any wealth.
    Based on sheer fantasy.

Yet, we continue to promote worth and value on illusion.

One should offer the seller what the seller wants. If you don't suggest "alternate" payment styles, you will never know if the seller is open to other types of "value" gains.

Off the books, a piece of real estate he/she has been coveting for generations, another Mia Noi, the placing of his/her favourite pets bloody, severed head on her pillow. All can be considered value to some people.

Due diligence whether you are buying or selling can prevent PPPPP (Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance).

As one of my former wives said, only the once mind you!

First it is Chip & Pin ATM cards, then Tap & Go...

U know it is coming soon; Thailand is advancing to full Western standards (for some things anyway)

I'm sure the market traders will invest in the hardware and gladly pay a bank a % of their profits.

    "1 Kilo of Bananas please"
    "50Bhat"
"Where is your Tap and Go device"
    "Mai Mee, no battery"

^Better buy it now whilst you are still pre-chipped.

No black market in gold, every Thai village has a "banker" of sorts who will gladly loan cash against gold. They do charge a pretty penny in interest though.
