I think what Jeff was aiming for is expressed in this article:
    Wealth Definition | Investopedia
    &
    What Is Money? | Investopedia
"barter, however, does not provide the transferability and divisibility that makes trading efficient"

Money is a legally defined atomic unit of property rights, and an interface between assets that clearly always have variable value.

    Then we get to:
    Fiat Money Definition | Investopedia

Which I thnk is the core of Jeff's point... where the dimensionless units of "transactional interface" become where the value is; and this conceptual shift facilitates a sort of calculus where you end up with the value of d value / dx, and you end up with futures; and add on technology and high frequency transactional trading, and it gets scary.

I'm an inveterate optimist, and I think the impending financial revolution, where we have another paradigm shift into nanopayments - payments so small, you can't ever hold them or feel them, and they flow like liquid, is exciting and creates opportunity... humanity is brilliant at imagining new worlds into existence, and that's what makes us different from every other life form, and luddites like Jeff fear the frontier and want to retreat back to the caves, betting themselve on being able to be smug when it all comes tumbling down... and it will... and then it will be rebuilt.. because humanity is part of nature... and nature abhors a vacuum, and the future is always, by definition, filled with hope.

No property taxes, which if defaulted upon can lead to confiscation, in your home?

My local Thai gold dealer gets these for me. Priced at NY Spot.

He has no problem supplying or buying them back.
