Honda motorcycle shops that accept debit cards

I've just been to my local shop to buy a CB300, quite a big place with about 100 bikes, but cash only!

the kawasaki dealership i went to last week accepted a debit card

amazed they'd be wanting cash at honda

a mate of mine went to buy a honda 300 from greenwing
out of interest he asked what the terms were if he paid with a visa card.

a complete no no.

only greenwings credit allowed doubling the cost of the bike.

they were not keen on cash at all cos they make so much of the credit deals.

So you go to your bank and explain you need 300,000 baht to buy a motorcycle from Honda. Then carry it to Honda. I don't see the problem.

But yes they probably want about 75,0000 down and the rest on tick.

On the other hand what would you do if the card company charged you 5% or 15,000 baht for the privileged of accepting the cards of others for payment. Did you ask if it was OK if they added the 5% to the cost of the bike? So you could pay them 315,000.

I've no bank account in Thailand. I keep no money here.

I've a 15,000 baht per day withdraw limit from my bank in my home country so it'll take weeks to withdraw it in cash. Paying by my debit card would be very simple if I can find a shop. I don't mind travelling.

Exactly what I did. Told the dealer I wanted the bike and would be back in 3 days to pay cash cuz of my daily limit on atm withdrawal.

Offered them a cheque but they got a pained look and said would take 2 weeks to clear.

Simpler yet. Transfer the funds from the foreign bank to the dealer's account. Takes about 24 hrs.

The difference between a debit card and a credit card is that the shop gets its money immediately when the transaction is registered but you can not purchase for more than you have on your account, overdrawing (=credit) is not possible.

So if you have the money in the bank then withdraw it and pay cash if the dealer doesn't accept the card.

When I bought my Versys I transfered the money over and then got a bank cheque made out to the Kawasaki dealer.

i thought i could just transfer the money to their account from mine with scb easy pay but they said they couldn't do that...not sure why...it's how i usually transfer moneys to people and bills and vape stores

You can call SCB and change your limit over the phone.

Upped mine to 100,000 a day a little while back. Takes 3 minutes.

Spoke to some bird and you say how much you want and tap your PIN number in the phone when you hear the BEEP.

that's what they told me to do at the dealership and we tried getting through to scb for about 20 minutes before giving up

the fee for a debit card exchange was 1.7% and seemed like an awful waste of money

Tried a couple more shops. No card facilities! Have changed to wanting an M slaz now so need a Yamaha dealer.

If your limit is 15,000 take out that much for 20 days then go to Honda?

Easier to open a Thai bank account and keep some money in it?

You can go to an SCB ATM machine and change it yourself, it needs your passport number for verification.
