    Slow moving dog mites

Dog is shedding some pin-head sized black mites on the white tiles of the house and is scratching more than usual. These things move super slowly, but even after a bath, they still show up. (They move so slow we thought they were just specks of dirt at first.) They look exactly like clover mites, but I don't think those use animals as hosts. Anyone know what these critters are?

Any dog mites can be killed with these. Can be bought online or many shops in Thailand. I get my dogs from my pharmacy.

Endex is basically a massive overdose of heartworm meds.
Works for fleas on my dogs, but not ticks.

Thailand is also the only place where it is used for this purpose. Not too sure how safe it is.

Well, Frontline has fipronil in it which make our dog really sick when injected. Have sprayed it on the ground and I suppose I might have to do that here at the rental. Still trying to figure out what these things are.

That is a helluva lot better idea than injecting that toxin in them! Might have to give that a go.

Seems there are a lot of mites that are no problem at all, but one form causes mange. Still wondering how to identify the bad guys, if that is even possible.

I think this addresses the problem. Where are they coming from?

Is the dog wearing a flea/tick collar?

The last resort which a friend recommended, and this is for a case of mange, cover the whole animal in old (or new I guess) engine oil. I suppose one could use olive oil but he was treating a stray that adopted his house.
A bit severe and means the dog can't come into the house for a while!

If you think he/she gets them from inside the house or yard then fumigation would maybe work.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
