    Buying an Underwater Camera.

    For an 8 yr old.

My niece will be holidaying here and she already has a digital camera. She'll be going snorkeling etc. so I would like to either buy an official underwater case for the camera she has (I'm waiting for info on what camera she has now, as we speak).

Or buying her a new underwater camera.

In the words of Manuel fromFawlty Towers 'I know nothing'.

    Any ideas? Prices?

It's for an 8 yr old so doesn't need to be a professional HD whatever.

I got one of these for 2000bt in Chinatown.
Really good quality for the price (full HD)
The waterproof casing goes down to 30m (not that she'll need it)
put a strap (old belt will do) around her chest and clip the camera on.

It will record for 2-3 hours everything she does - no need for her to stop and "take pictures"

You can screen grab any image you like from the footage for a picture.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

    Thanks.

I saw this SJ4000 on dealfish for 2,800.

I think most of it is to do with her taking the photos and seeing/having the results, rather than the whole thing being videoed then just grabbing images off it.

Good to know these SJ models have good enough quality.

Cheers, I'll check that out. I'm sure it would be enough for an 8 yr old on holiday.
