Not an ounce from me Chas, either from the missus or a freak of nature.Originally Posted by chassamui

And as a Luk Krueng quite an achievement especially as one of the disciplines was Thai traditional dancing and etiquette.
My little baby superstar and me being a fat old fart makes it even more enjoyable.
Well done Ms. LT. That's a lot of folks to beat out.
Thanks Dave.
My wife and I were most surprised when she won as she is not a natural show person and quite shy.
This experience has really brought her out of her shell and she is definitely serious about her future even though she is only 11 years old.
One thing for sure, and more in-line with the OP topic, her achievements have made me feel a whole lot younger and I can only hope that those that have children later on in life feel the same as I do.
You have that right, you regain your youth, grandparents sit with grandchildren, but a parent has to play.
English guy about 12 k from me, 3 kids, 2 boys, 58, but you will see him playing football with the boys most days.
Congratulations on the win, but be careful, my 2 lead every school march or school dancing show, eldest 7 gave the flowers to the education minister, representing the town, little speech English and Thai. Robinson center on the phone, can they come modal kids clothes. No way, already have big heads, but think it will get worse as they get bigger. Jim
If you are turning down modeling work( Robinson well know Brand business ) for your kids Jim I think thats not a good move.
Could open many future doorways that otherwise would never exist not to mention the the funds the job would have put in the kid bank.
I reckon a lot of parents would of jumped at that.
GD,
Your response sounds so typical of many money hungry adults. Exploitation of children has become common theme. Its actually almost a sickness. There is a very fine line between encouragement and trying to make money off your children through driving them. If you are not careful you ruin your child with your own greed. I have seen it many many times. In the end a large majority of kids grow up to resent their parents because of it.
As for having kids after 50, its pleasant to see that there are a handful of you guys that made a go of it late in life with another round of children. Good on ya, Clearly its a personal preference. Just quite thankful its not me. As I read through the responses I find it interesting that it takes a child to make you feel young again. Not sure what that means exactly. But hey whatever works.
My boys were both offered modeling jobs when they were younger but the problem I had is I wanted to authorize and supervise the content as their agent and have input/control over who they sold the pictures to as you never know where they'll end up?
They wanted us to sign over all rights control to the content and have no say over it or who it was to be offered to and that just wasn't going to happen, especially coming out of Thailand, one never knows if they're going to be to sold to some peado website or whatever? Or just sold without us being notified and getting our just commissions.
My wifes cousins son (Thai) was put on an agency's books. Don't know what the signing on fee was. Has only ever had one job and was paid just over a thousand Baht for a days work. Are these agancy's a con in getting/giving parents false hopes? We all like to dream and I think these agency's are aware of that fact.
As for my kids. I don't need the money and I believe in them having a normal up bringing without the need to be push into the lime-light of modeling. What is it in Thailand that makes parents, who have 50-50 kids think their child should be models?
Some definitely are. there should be no cost. They act as an agent and offer them as models to clients, we paid nothing for a rather extensive portfolio and they came back with a 10,000b per day, 5 day photo shoot offer within a week but weren't clear on ad client or daily length of shoot and some other details that currently escape me, this was many years ago, but we weren't giving them Carte Blanche to our children without close oversight and full disclosure.
I felt they were also offended and acted defensively at my inquiries and concerns being that Thai's don't "tink so mut" ..
I wasn't expecting much but this thread turned out to be an inspiring read.
Thanks and best wishes to all who contributed.
Not sure how read into that I'm a typical money hungry adult.
Personally if it was my kid any money earnt would be the kids and going in an account for them, although I thought my post expressed that.
You may view a child do modeling work as child exploitation but unless the child specifically did not want to do it I don't.
I would not push my kids to do anything they were not happy to do,but will try guild and encourage them to make good choices.
Chances are a young girl who enjoys dressing up and parading, dancing and generally performing for people would also enjoy this kind of work.
Robinson is a reputable very well known company which could open many future doors for a child model in Thailand.
Could very well be that stepping stone that eventually lands a young adult a T.V work etc.
As long as the kids happy where's the harm.
Interesting topic - Now as a Dad, having said I would never be one, and the missus wanting a second, and me not, with her recently replaced contraceptive implant in her arm, and the option at the time not to replace it.
She is 40 I am 35, time ticks more for her, and at times I do think it might be nice, but the selfish side is still there.
Congratulations Steve another light to shine in the world.
Life is is very short and I think there is nothing better in our lives than seeing a part of us reborn.
If I have any time to reflect I know it will be something that will give me comfort when my time comes to pass.
What did you name the little one ? , did you go for a Thai or English,Sorry Steve you could be an Eskimo
Thanks. He's a good kid.
His name is Mark. I'm sure that the wife's family will give him a Thai nickname. I already have a half English / half Thai nickname.
Steve
The beautiful picture of James' daughter and the awards and requests for Loy Toy's daughter confirm what I already believed. The Luk Krueng children can be very popular in school and due to parenting can excel academically.
I also believe that on average, culturally, the farang fathers will be much better fathers.
Congratulations to both of you. It's wonderful what you are doing.
For me I couldn't do it. I retired to retire. I love the children but then I want to give them back to their parents, LOL.
I'd be careful and go slowly. I had an absolutely beautiful American daughter (thanks to her mother lol.) She won everything from the time she was 5 years old. Winning a beauty pageant and getting lots of acclaim and publicity at 5 wasn't good for her. She wasn't ready for it. Then she went on to other things, always winning. She was high school homecoming queen and then Miss Oregon, USA.
By the time she was grown she thought the world owed her a living and she had a big head and she never recovered.
Sometimes the greatest achievers and the ones most motivated to prove something are those who have to come from behind. I. E. The class nerd goes on to become the brain surgeon and most of us know such a person.
JMHO.
