    Thai Immigration

Has anyone up North (Chiang Mai) EVER been given an extension of stay (12 months) on their initial application at CM immigration? ( Marriage)

I have been renewing my original extension of stay for 11 years here and every single time I have to produce more and more senseless shit to comply with their stupid rules, yet every time I end up with a "come back in a month stamp" I think two years ago they wanted a photo of me and the wife outside our home...didn't have it, told to go round the back to where the snack place was and get a photo there... yeah right, looks just like home, complete with a queue of falang and some photocopiers. Last year they wanted a map! didn't have, so I was told to draw it on a piece of A4, worthless!

A friend of mine is on the retirement visa, he gets it the same day!

Now I am going back to the shit pen tomorrow after 1 month extension to see if I get the 1 year or have to come back again in another month, it is a real pain in the ass as I am working in China and it is getting a bit pissy having to keep coming back here and complying with their ridiculous requests, plus the constant renewal of the re entry permit!

They must have 10 telephone books worth of documents on me and my family over the years, I have probably been personally responsible for the deforestation of the upper North Jungle in paper.

If you ever want to see how an immigration/consul should work, just try the Chinese Consul in Chiang Mai, pleasant efficient and very very helpful, if you would like to see not how to operate an immigration department, take a visit to the shit fest at CM immigration, the ultimate in ignorance and incompetence! Multi tasking? never in a million years! The only positive note is that despite it costing me (company) a return air ticket every month is that I no longer have to suffer their retarded 90 day reports...I can just tear them out of the passport and put them where they belong in the trash!

Yes, both times that I've applied for my one year extension I got it straight away (at Chiang Mai).

edit, mine is a retirement visa, not marriage. If you are old enough that is the one to go for. Much easier, less form filling, less headache.

I used to get a 2 month extension on a 30 day fly in due to marriage. As far as I know everyone gets 90 days max, whatever the weesa.

    On a marriage extension?

OK Missed your edit, we were both typing the same time.

Happily, I am not old enough for the old "Codgers" extension just yet....3 months to go! Ha Ha! Providing the Chang doesn't kill me first or the Chinese Rice Whisky, 53% and 70 UK Pence for 500 ML!

    Three syllables:

    Overstay.

I'm not suggesting you pursue this route just merely stating that overstay is composed of three syllables.

    Overstay.

    Three little syllables.

I am sure to get banned again, but what the hell, been nice hearing from you, I tried to post you a PM but it was stopped as was an e mail, no sort of "forgive and forget here"

    The content was....
    "Jesus,
within 10 seconds of you posting that ....they banned me again! Shit is there no such thing as forgive and forget? It is almost 3 years since I was on here.

I posted on another forum, but you will probably know... is it true DD died??? He was not that old and I believe he had quite a young son? Terrible news, put me in a bit of a black mood tonight, just in time for dealing with the shit at Thai immigration in the morning.

The ranks are getting thinner, first to pop the clogs that I remember was Blackgang...sad eh?

Anyway, take care it was good to pick up a few posts from the likes of you and Baldrick, a bit of a blast from the past.

Not that healthy myself these days, pancreas is about giving up, and the CM RAM have found some black fibrosis on the old lungs, must have something to do with 40-60 fags a day! (not homos....ciggies!)

Anyway, nice to hear from you, look after yourself!"

Do you know if Briandajoy is still around? The guy from up Chiang Rai that bought my old Honda, he was just married last time I heard from him.

Maybe with a bit of begging and pleading the Mods might not ban me this time, I was only wanting to catch up and sometimes a leopard can change his spots!

Running out of e mail addresses but you can still get me on missismiggins at gmail dot com

Multi-user name? Almost as obvious as Socal's was.....

You are allowed a reentry permit for any reason.
