The villa came with a pet speckled dove (my name for the species, real name is a spotted dove (Spilopelia chinensis)) we called Brownie.

Loves to just sit in the baking hot sun and watch me do the gardening, as she is sitting on 3 eggs.

If they aren't baked, which would be surprising, anyone know how long they take to hatch? She's been on them for at least 6 weeks already. I've a wooden birdhouse to put up that I'd like her to move into, so I can change the lamp once she's gone.... but that might be a while.

Six weeks seems a long time. A bantam's egg which is a lot bigger than a dove's egg takes about 19 days to hatch.

Not 'wild' in Chanthaburi, visited these two on Sunday, near our previous house, well fed/looked after.

Quite a horsey scene around here, several temples have them - a welcome change from dogs, there was a riding school about 300m from where we now live, it's since moved further out of town

A Peacock lizard. It likes to burrow in the cassava fields where my Pitbull likes to dig them out.

A Tokay. Gotta be careful with these as they really bite hard. Known to eat rats and small birds.

Geckos do drink milk and dairy, owners and researchers have documented this. However, feeding geckos milk and other dairy products is not recommended as geckos are naturally lactose intolerant due to the lack of the enzyme called lactase needed for breaking down the carbohydrate lactose.

A Tarantula. The bottom photo is of their lair. I've loads in my garden but the spider is rarely seen.

^^A friend of mine used to leave a capful of condensed milk out on his kitchen counter at night. We could watch the resident tokay come drink the milk. That tokay was big and loud, like having Godzilla living on the wall.

I have quite a few in my garden. How did you manage to catch one? Mine are way too fast, or maybe I am too slow.
The gf's two distantly-related-to-chihuahuas have long sniffed and scratched around their holes, no damage done. The Thai rescue puppies are now over six months old and they are like bulldozers, as the rain has softened the earth they have started digging these lizards out. They still haven't caught one, the lizards are too fast. The garden, meanwhile, is beginning to look like the Somme.

A small collection of animals at a cafe near us - Hooligan Arena - had dinner there Friday evening, at a separate table to the sloth

Recent additions a sloth and a white wallaby

    Impressive table manners, upside-down dining

White wallabies are Bennett's wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus) with a rare genetic mutation that gives them their white fur. Bruny Island [Tasmania] has a population of white wallabies, some which are albino with white coats and pink eyes, ears and nose, while others possess only the white coat.

    More from the local zoo

The Patagonian mara (Dolichotis patagonum) is a relatively large rodent in the mara genus Dolichotis. It is also known as the Patagonian cavy or Patagonian hare. This herbivorous, somewhat rabbit-like animal is found in open and semiopen habitats in Argentina, including large parts of Patagonia.

At indoor football last night, Hooligan Arena. Owners have added five huge tortoises to their little zoo

And the white wallaby seemed more settled, last time was hiding in the back corner

Cycling along and came across these party animals stranded on their back.

Looks like they got a bit too excited, if you know what I mean, and ended up stranded and horny on their back.

I didn't arrive in time to save their manage a twoh friend.

Called a coffee vendor gal over to flip them so I didn't need to risk life and limb.

Back to it ye horny little fookers.

Not to worry, the big claws and fat tail indicate that he is not particularly venomous.
