    British TV via the internet

I don't watch a great deal of Tv at the best of times but sometimes want to catch a little British TV every now and then. When I lived up the mountain I had only an air card and that wasn't the quickest of internet at the best of times.
I now have sold that and moved to a place that has ten meg internet. Had it a few weeks now and it seems fine. I am averaging around eight Meg. They don't seem to be throttling my torrent downloads either which is another plus.
I thought that I would give the Expat TV another go. I tried it on my air card but it just kept buffering and wasn't any good. I applied for another two day free trial and it worked a treat. I spent all day Sunday watching the Andrew marr show and the Emmerdale omnibus. It took a few episodes to get back into the swing of it but most of the old carecters are stil there just looking older, like me I suppose.
You can either watch it in live time or download it. I am just using the software player but you can get an Android box that plugs into the TV for four grand.
They have a special offer at the moment , till saturday I think where you get three months for 999 Baht.
If you are missing your UK TV it iss worth a try.
    Well happy.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

Every time I look at ITV on my cable it is playing either Coronation Street, Emmerdale, or some fat slags on a bus.

An excellent source of UK TV download torrents is TheBox :: Login (as well as EZTV - TV Torrents Online).

Really fast downloads, and usually programmes are up within a couple of hours of them being shown live. The problem of 'live streaming' UK TV of course is that the time differential. Can't imagine getting up in the middle of the night for an episode of 'Emmerdale'........

You would have to pay me a lot more than ThB 999 to watch British TV.

As opposed to what? Some excellent UK dramas, including 'Southcliffe' which has it's concluding 2 parts this week, and 'Broadchurch' of a couple of months ago. 'Top Gear' is probably the most entertaining motoring show in the world.

    Right then...
Download the above, get a HDMI cable and plug into your TV.
    6 free channels for free.
I've had it for months and it's brilliant.
BTW. It works a bit like a recorder, you can watch it live or go to playback.
You don't have to miss anything!

I've also had a couple of trials with ThaiExpat TV and was very pleased with it. I was using the software based version. Some of my colleagues have the box and are finding it a bit clunky. The soft ware one is the way to go.

Anyway decided to start a subscription and selected the pay monthly 600 thb (or thereabouts) with a once off set up fee. So was looking to be paying about 800/900 bht.

Their system accepted the order saying it was processing it and that Bank details would be forthcoming.

A few hours later....no reply so I chased them up.

It came back saying that I had to pay 3 months. I replied that that was not what I had ordered and not what their purchasing system had offered and requested that they honour their offer.

No way. Typical Bait and switch. Not impressed.

However with the 999 bht offer I am tempted.

The actual TV service is great. No dispute. Their customer service......

I have the android box from thai expat tv connected to my TV... Very pleased with it. 7 days on demand or live and can also access it using same login with my tablet.

At 600 baht per month I am not complaining as I am finding loads more to watch than I ever could when I had True gold package at 1500 per month.

They are going to start some live sports channels soon at an extra cost .

That was one of my big worries as well. The last UK TV service was lousy and then just suddenly closed. When I applied for the free trial I was sent a link to download the player. After downloading it when I tried to start it I got a message saying I was missing a DLL file. I sent an email to support and was surprised to get a reply within minutes even though it was evening. Over the course of several emails and trying different links they had my problem sorted. It is very rare to get such service like that from any company in Thailand. I was most surprised and very happy.
I now have high speed internet and UK TV for less than I was paying fior shit slow internet via the air card.

I don't understand, why pay for something that's available for free? Watch free online tv channels , and live online TV channels from around the world ! - OnlineSat-Tv.CoM

Free is Ok but under a thousand Baht for three months UK TV with a good software player that lets me record programs and support back up. FFS how tight do you have to be to begrudge paying that ?
I have used the free stuff and the torrent sites but I am happy with this for what I paid. Less than a decent meal for three months TV

Free is good, have to agree with that.... But I don't mind paying a small amount each month for a reliable system with more channels.

Tried the link above posted by Rainfall and couldn't get any of the UK streams to work on my laptop (old laptop though and might not have right codecs etc)... Sky Sports stream wasn't available... Horses for courses but paying a little bit for something that works is what I prefer.

I'd agree with that Rawlins. Personally I'm pretty happy with what I can get for free, but, if there was something I wanted that I had to pay a bit for I would.

Personally I switch on my duper-duper Sky package and Hey Presto, British TV!

My attempts at making the Thai expat contingent jealous are running a little thin on the ground now..

Yeah, I downloaded it onto my desk top and click it to open. On the right hand side are six icons for free channels including BBC1 and 2 along with 2 itv channels a film channel and sky news. You just click to open and the bottom of the page has a time line on which you can check the progs of the day as well as going back to the previous day.

Bloody great for free and 3 more channels than I grew up with, Good luck with it, squire

just tried it in uk , as I dont have a tv , don't really want one though .

But thought I'd take a look at sky news , but 100 years old micheal parkinson is advertising insurance, you get a free parker pen ,,,,,

looks like its a bit bandwidth hungry though , that kbps monitor at the top races up and down 4000 is that right ?

    Smile UK T.V.

Was never keen in the UK on watching the general run of programs. Thought I would broaden my horizons by installing SKY (full package) what a complete waste of money majority of programs simply re runs of old bbc or itv ones or reruns of old american comedy's which were over my head anyway the movie channels just simply churned out the same rubbish on about a four monthly rota dumped it after a year. Since moving to Thailand (7 years now) just use the 6 available 'air' channels (Thai PBS do have quite a number of programs in English) or pick up important news items from the bbc internet services. on occasions I may watch some of the 'golden oldie' films available on the internet for free.
