Bit of a morbid question but most like to make though,s close to them aware of their final wish.
I choose cremation and mean no disrespect when I say that I think cemeteries are just a wast of land.
My view comes from my father showing me his fathers grave which was like so many a memorial which was unattended like so many in the cemetery.
Once the next generation passes and so on you end up with old cemeteries which are visited by virtually no one.
Some are even ripped up and built over.
It was installed in me that you should cherish your memories and photos of such, rather than spending your time at a graveside.
When we first moved to my wife,s village I found the local crematorium a sight to behold!
WTF is that?
I had never seen nothing like this, but it obviously done the job.
It looked like who ever built it could have done with a bit more practice though!
Once I had settled in and soon bored of listening to the loud relatives I often grabbed a bag of beers and wondered down their for some piece and quite.
Not something I would of dreamed of doing in the U.K,but this place had a totally different fill to it that you might expect.
It was on one of the dirt tracks leading out of the village, roughly about 1000 yards or so from where we bought our land.
Apart from when they actually burnt someone there it was a place where the Thais would not go in the day time let alone at night.
It did feel a little strange one night sitting down there enjoying a beer while the thing still glowed from the earlier burn.
I remember thinking to myself that,s where I will be deposed of when the time comes.
Would of been fine with that,it done the job.
Sure something spooked the dog, must of been one of the thousands of ghosts that live there according to the wife.
There is a concrete base with a shelter covering it where I used to sit and around the time we left they decided to concrete the whole area in front.
I suspect someone got fed up of cutting the grass or more probably the village head took a 70% cut of the funds to get the job done.
It a tough job that he bought the privilege to get so has to have some reward!.
The toilet is not bad on the inside, could be one of the cleanest in Issan
It really is set in a nice wild bit of ground where many birds find sanctarry from any fool with a powder shot gun or normal shot gun.
Don,t miss the poxy sound of gun shot day and night, should restrict most of them to catapults.
The piece of land adjoining was nice with a varied selection of native trees.I pushed the wife to find out if we could but this but it was not for sale.
She thought I was crazy for suggesting it as being so close to the burn as she calls it no one would ever visit us.
I would have gladly payed double the asking price
So that,s my view on the subject with a little taste of how they do things in that village.
What are your thoughts and is your crematorium in Thailand better than that?
