    Phitsanulok Information

I would like some direction, from those who know Phitsanulok.
Is it, or would it be, an OK place to live.
Does it have a growing economy, fueled by industry or tourism.
What would be the down side to this city.
    Thanx in advance

    Plok is alright...
Not known enough for massive visitors.
    Small Farang resident population.
    Lovely and substantial marketplaces
Modern shopping centres [if that's your gig].
Top hospital in the country [Naresuan University]
    Main train terminal.
    Unusual and alternative clubbing.
    Eclectic local eateries.
The eastern side of the province is beautifully mountainous [running into Petchabun].

    Down side:
Little or no tuk-tuks [public transport] to be found. Weird.
Some might consider it to becoming too large - spreading out fast.

Giant country town with just enough amenity to make it farang friendly.
    Nice riverbank.

    Thai Air Force Base there.

Upside as mentioned is the Central Mall

    Downside is congested traffic IMO

One of the two excellent Bangkaew Dog Breeders in Thailand there.

Nice location although I haven't stayed there. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. Mountains and national parks are really impressive. I usually pass through and continue on to Payao. Also very nice.

There seems to be an increase in Thai interest in this location.

    This is most certainly true.
Especially after completing the major bypass motorways - east and west.

King Naresuan who defeated the Burmese at Don Chedi back in the late 1500's was from Phitsanulok.

Its a pretty rugged road North through the Mountains into Lao. Most have been completed now and its paved most of the way. Still lots of switch backs and long steep downhill runs or up hill as is the case for heavy truckers.

Beautiful scenery as well as huge Teak wood forest reserves.

My wife is from Nahkon Sawon, but thought Phitsanulok was nice when there last. There is no doubt now from your feed back, Phitsanulok is the city we will one day soon call home.

If the choice was NS or Phits, definitely the latter.

P'lok City always seems hot to me. Apart from the riverside not a lot of park areas.

If you have an interest in golf it has a military based 18 hole course, pretty flat and uninspiring although tricky in places. The Thai's at the course are very welcoming.

I like the place although it's on the other side of the mountain range from me (2.5 hrs drive). As mentioned it's a wee bit congested and not knowing Phit' too well a satnav helped in getting around.
