    Mailing Documents

Don't know where to ask this question, so it might need moving.

Anyway, used UK post to send documents to Pattaya, after 5 weeks not arrived, so friend suggested UPS or the like. They want 58 quid for 8 sheets of paper !!!

Anybody can tell me which postal or delivery service to use at a sensible price ??
    Thanks.

normal mail works for me, usually no problems

unless the documents are valuable then you might want to use a premium service with tracking

Did you send it recorded/special delivery where it has to be signed for the other end?

That only cost about a fiver, and I've never had any problems sending things with the Royal Mail when it's sent special delivery.

They don't want the hassle of dealing with it if it goes missing, so they seem to take special deliveries very seriously.

Now I send only to my office.

Funny, get it all, guess there's not some thieving cvnt targeting me in the post office near my office.

Don't think it's called registered for a long time but international signed for. If 5 quid it probably was. I have had expensive jewellery sent this way and it arrived in a week.

Sent a post to P.I. recently "registered mail," according to the Thai post office in Phuket. Government agency received it in less than three days.

Mail from outside Thailand often goes missing cos the handelers expect it to contain valuable stuff, I would say if registering it works, it's the only way to go.

My bank told me that Thailand is a high risk country to send mail to. I personally, have lost 4 bank withdrawall cards plus numerous letters from England. I reckon once the sorting office in Thailand see a foreign name they assume the letter contains something of value and hey-presto its gone. In England the post-office police would trap the thieving bastards, but here we are in the land of smiles (thieves) and you grin and bear it.

Hensen, do it recorded delivery it will get here

4 years ago i sent a air riffle from the UK to thailand in two boxes,
stock in one box and barrel in another, recorded delivery
took 8 months to have it delivered to my adress in ISSAN, believe it or not i had forgotten it when the post man arrives at my home with two boxes on my name,
could not remember it until i opened it,
that could have been because of excessive maryjane,
still have it but its unusable due to my attempts of turning it into a .22 cal riffle,
    to shoot real bullets,

Do you consider this effective tracking........

Your item, posted on 07/05/13 with reference RJ299297914GB has arrived in OFFICE UNKNOWN and is being processed for delivery.

Just had a new credit card sent from my UK address to here.

Service at the post office is called 'International Signed For'. Cost me about 8 quid total.

You get a tracking number which you can follow through the royal mail site until it gets to Thailand, then it goes into the EMS tracking system.

Note, there is no insurance (actually I think there is 50 quid coverage), so if its important, but not valuable - that is the way to do it.
