I love it how dirt-poor teen girls think you hansum man.
I like the young Thai teckie boys. They're so brave.
I like how the MoE runs the school system.
Eating curry for breakfast is lovely. What's just as good is the joe, flavourful!
And the sanity of Thai motorist is impressive.
Last is how welcome immigration makes you feel. Always room for one more, eh?
There must be something I loved about it tho, I stayed for 8 years. Must be the Chang beer. Top shelf! Doesn't taste green at all.
Ain't it wonderful?
Yup.
What I love about Thailand?
Anything I need to hide I just put on top of the wardrobe safe in the knowledge the missus ain't tall enough to see it.
I love the way I can roam the streets of Kata slagging of all the Russian peasants as often and as much as I like.
Can't do that at home, can't find any bloody Russians.
I don't understand why so many people on these type of forums spend their whole life bitching about Thailand? They go to live there and then simply moan about everything, I don't understand that????
Lots of bad things about Thailand but also lots of good things! I really like the place! I don't live there I live in Laos which is similar enough, in all honesty I would say I do prefer it to be honest.
As for Thailand I like:
People. Not all of them of course however there are alot of decent people conterary to what many people seem to believe.
food Not all of it by any means! But I do love the availability and cheapness of food.
Prices Yes it is not as cheap as it once was and some things are the same price as the west but still a lot of things are very good value! If you want to live cheap then you certainly can! Cheap roadside meal 25 to 30 Baht, beer at a shop around 45 Baht, Not bad hey!
Women If you are single then it really is one of the best places you could live! I'm already married so cannot say too much ha ha but if I was single then really can't go wrong in this sense.
Craftmanship (Botching lol) I love how people make things and put this engine in to this or that etc... Really clever in my opinion! Most old mercs have a Toyota engine as it's heart. I met a guy putting a Toyota engine in to an old merc using an Arc welding stick with a bulb on the end to see which pin in the plug had a power feed in order to wire everything up, really clever!
Weather Lots of people moan about the heat however I genuinely prefer to be hot than cold! Sometimes I do think 'Oh today is too hot' But then I always remember how shit the cold is and think differently
As I mentioned I live in Laos which I generally prefer, the people are friendlier, beer is cheaper, good bread. What I don't like about it here is food is more expensive as it property and the lack of development, I.e. lack of good hospitals or any big shops/supermarkets.
Anyhow sorry for writing too much and lets try and all keep on topic
^ Missionary?
Karma's a bitch, RT. ^This'll probably be what happens to you.

1. Driving a Rote Issan, on the wrong side of the road, waving to the local Policeman, (as he waves back).
2. The strength of colour of the blooms on all the plants that flower.
3. Taking photos of kids (without being arrested and charged with being a pervert).
4. Riding my motorcycle after the rain and splashing through hot puddles.
5. The smell of that green mozzie bite stuff.
6. Loud music in the dead of night.
7. Real Thai massage.
8. The local food markets.
9. Lat Naa, and good Larb, and the fact that you seem to get a bigger portion, just because you remember the Laos for 'delicious'.
10. Clean, blue water on the beaches (mostly)
11. Songkraan
12. Oh yes, the girls and all their colourful sob stories.
I like a good British breakfast because it comes with beans and tomato. And it's cheaper than an American breakfast without them ...
Not a problem Dave,
To update, I made a post where I stated that I believed that homosexuality is a disorder and that the thought of a man inserting his penis in another man's bunghole, disgusting.
Gaysexboy, quimbian corholla, and a few other liberals immediately went on the attack (which I fully expected). I had previously mentioned that I was a practising Buddhist, and so a common theme to any opinon that I posted that conflicted to their beliefs became "Any you call yourself a Buddhist", etc.
So I got in that habit of prefacing any comment of mine that would draw the ire of the liberal set, "Although I am a Buddhist, I believe..."
So the pro-homosexual/pro-abortion/anti-gun group, continuously make what I call "prissy little Missy" snipes on whatever thread I post.
It really doesn't bother me, it just proves my statements on a thread called "Social Terrorism". I've actually begun to enjoy the back-and-forth "dissing".
As to your original question, about 5 years ago when I was in a very real danger of dying from liver disease, I realized that I really had no fear of death, and that I only had two regrets: 1) Not being able to spend more time with my wife, and 2) Not being a better person than I had been.
Although basically a decent man, I had grew up rough, loved to fight, and tried to bed as many women as I could. I eventually settled down, but an agressive nature combined with sharp words and an hedonistic lifestyle did not lend itself to me become the kind of person I wanted to be when I died.
After surviving the end-stage liver diesease (and assorted complitcations), I started studying Hindusim and Buddhism. Eventually I found that Buddhism was a very practical method of living that, if you followed its precepts, you would become a much better person.
I have been studying Buddhism ever since. Unfortunately, some people seem to think that if you are a Buddhist, you can never state opinions or have views that might cause other people distress.
As a practical person and a realist, I believe that the world is better off with some people dead (Sadam Huessin, Osama bin Laden, etc). Again these views incite anger in some liberal posters.
As for me, I have no anger toward anyone, but I believe firmly (remember the post about "core" nature?) that I, or anyone else should be able to express their views, no matter how upsetting it might be to some people.
I am thinking about starting a thread on The Eightfold Noble Path if anyone has any interest.

well, that was a downer
Yes or no would of done!
I am not religious but have read up on the subject and do find it the best of the pick so to speak.
Thanks for the reply.
My view is life is for living! As long as your not harming others live it how you like!
