Thailand is certainly no financial holiday bargain during the high season, which is the only time the weather really cooperates.

I think there are numerous places around the world to holiday and Thailand would not be on my list.

Each person that comes to Thailand has their own unique sets of experiences and reasons for coming.

Everyone learns something

Many wise up, grow up, get married to a nice gal and settle down

I know many will vent about how that will never happen, but that is not the question.

As a young man stationed in Taipei, Taiwan in 1972, the city was full of bars and clubs where the girls were beautiful and cheap ($2.00 shorttime).

Today the city is pretty much cleaned up, and foreigners would have to go underground to find girls. A very risky business for the average Joe.

So it is possible (if not probable) that this could eventually happen in Thailand.

to be honest I don't think I would notice if the trade disappeared over night and to be honest I don't think it would make much difference to the thai economy.

In 2003 the thai GDP was 143 billion, which puts the 4.3 billion in perspective. Since then the thai GDP had doubled, has the income from prostitution?

I had my doubts because the linked piece was rather foaming and that makes me want to fact check anything they quote. and they don't seem to give a reference to where they got that figure from. so it is the truth or are they using spin and quoting the value of thai tourism? Personally I think it could be either, but they hav't given use the opportunity to find out.
