I decided today to "bite the bullet" and get a copy of Rosetta Stone for Thai. When my local bookstore didn't have Thai I was not surprised. When Amazon showed it as 'unavailable' I was a bit. When the Rosetta Stone site didn't show Thai I was shocked.
When did they stop offering Thai?
I used Instant Immersion when I was learning Mandarin and while it didn't really stick (lack of use), I had the best success with it. Tried to buy this for Thai and found they have gone to a subscription type service. Two years access to their site for around $50 US.
First Question: Are there any "immersion" type language software courses (ie, not audio CDs) available and do you recommend them?
Second Question: I have sort of a bad ear and am having a difficult time telling the difference between sounds. The multiple Podcasts I have listened to will say the same phrase several times and (to my ear) it will sound differently each time.
for instance:
Per Web site Thank you = kob kun mak krab
But to my ear sounded as = Kop kung mah krap ...and is the way it was practiced for several days before I saw the Romanization 'krab'.
Chinese has "Pinyin" for romanization of sounds, is there anything like that for Thai. I could not find anything, but may not know what to call it.
Thanks
