    Lao beef noodle

This is the picture of my lunch.

Lao beef noodles: Lao people pronounced it as "fur". It is one of the favorite dishes in Laos.fresh chilli with shrimp paste and lemon. It usually costs 10,000 Lao Kip which is about a little more than US$ 1.

Not much into them 'sort of' meatballs in your soup, but I find a bowl of Lao or VN noodle soup with real meat & fresh veg on the side to be a pretty decent healthy meal, and well suited to the climate. Cheap too.

No mint there though- or is that just a Vietnamese thing?

I went into one of the local Lao restaurants in Vientiane to get a coffee, a Lao couple ordered the noodle soup, I was quite amazed at the filled up plates of green stuff they got with it, enough to feed a cow for an hour or 2, not sure if your supposed to eat all of the green stuff or just take what you want, in Pattaya your lucky to get a few bean sprouts with your noodle soup.

Luang Phrabang salad was always my favourite. Tangy citrus dressing. But, when I just checked on the Net, the photos were not what I had in mind.

    Looks yummy.
    The missus makes something similar.
Cube some leftover cooked meat. Could be steak, or roast of any type. Place ina pot with some water and bring it to the boil.
While you are bringing the meat to the boil in a pot of water, place some noodles in a bowl. Add some finely chopped cabbage, bean sprouts and chopped shallots.
When the meat comes to the boil add it with the boiling water to the noodles and veges and leave stand for a few minutes while the noodles cook in the hot water.
Add salt and chili powder to taste. Makes a quick and tasty meal.

No, pasta. Proper noodles, but I like Asian noodles too.

Correct, it is Vietnamese and there are a number of noodle shops selling Phở in Laos. Khao Piak Sen, on the other hand, is Laos.

Using real meat stock instead of boiling water actually makes it even tastier.

Love the Noodle, back a couple of weeks now from Vietnam, seems Pho is pronounced 'fur' down south and more like 'far' up north, good food and cant beat basil for an anti oxidant.
