I had to jump in and see. Then I recognized the fella from the other day. Netting the same small fish.

Camp sights were only 35usd a night. That would explain the vacancies. Haha.

You could say we were the only recreational boaters in the area.

I'll let them know digitals. I'm imaging the blank stares as I try to explain.

I couldn't bring myself to ask the old guy living in a shelter of sorts by the river if he'd mind if I took a pick. He had a shack up the hill on one of the smaller islands. He was quite proud of his little solar panel and 12v lighting system.

He said what more do you need. I pondered that for a second. I can imagine my blank stare this time.

The fishlocker is begining to have a softer cooler feel.

All wood, no plastic! I may let these guys finish the rest of the place some day.

But I know if I had them do that it would be rhat much harder to get back to reality. Hard enough already

    Gone fishing.

Fine thread, Fish. Great read for an hour or while sitting on the back verandah here in Narrabeen by the lagoon.

Think I'm so relaxed I go make a cuppa & sit some more. As the old man said - "What more do you need?"

Glad you enjoyed the thread thus far. I wanted to do more traveling but as usual around here plans change. For example I wasn't planning on building a bedroom in the dance hall. It was all by chance that I ran into the chiseler.

Depending on the river edge development project that is ongoing here I may be able to build a house here someday.

The fishlocker is looking good. The fan/ light has retractable blades. Kinda cool. Well it's hot and humid thus one exhaust fan was placed above the door.

Next time I stop in I'll try to locate some real windows. May have to be ordered from Thailand. Then A/C added, sparky has the wiring laid up in the ceiling allready.

It is a bit agravating sourcing anything here. For example, I've got a couple of guys welding up a proper ladder up to the stainless steal water tank just so I can clean the tank. The welding is the easy part. I went to all the major stores in town looking for bleach. None to be found. Try asking someone for sodium hypochlorite, blank stares abound.

What to do I think to myself, aha go to the hotel with the pool to see where they get theirs. Ordered from Thailand she says. I asked if she could sell me some, nope. Bo benyoung I say.

Off to the "talat yie" as I'm getting frustrated as I ask how do people do whites in the laundry. Different products they say.

Between the dust pollution and burning plastic and having to speak too much to get anything done I've gotten a sore throat so it's over to one of a hundred Pharmacies.

There I notice a huge fish tank that is surprisingly clean. The next thing you know we are off to a huge warehouse for animal feed of all sorts. Sure enough powdered chlorine. The guy there even knew what to do whith it. Shazam, had him explain it to bil, we may be on to something.

I did mention a hundred times earlier that the well drillers should know about this stuff. Agravation is an understatement.

Funny thing was when I checked out this place it seemed like I'd seen it before.

Yes indeed my sparkie buddie threw this up a few years ago. I recalled mrs fish showing me a pick of the completed works years ago. I verified by showing him this pick now.

The guy is all right, wired this crib for 200usd ten years ago. I gave him 8,000,000 kip to rebox and set wires for the new a/c today.

Who said you can't always get what you want.

Those windows look fine...except that their color doesn't match the new woodwork. That looks really nice and what a deal you got, eh?

    Mmmmm...salad.

The piece out back along the creek. You can see the new bridge to the left. The posts cost 10,000 kip apiece so about 11.50 usd per post. That cost includes delivery. They will demarcate the new trail opening up a bit more usable land for farming.

I've been for a walk on a winters day.
Vat Tomo. Pardon the spelling if off. It is the only Temple of the time east of the Mekong. I'll try to dig up more info.

This place is walking distance from a rice farm we bought years ago. Kinda cool. I knew it was in the area at the time but never made the trip.

Great photos! The best time in my life was when I spent a year in Luang Prabang as the boss of the new international school. (Well, the job was shite but the leisure time was the dog's testicles). Beats living in the slum in Ranong (where I is right now...)

There was one lady just leaving when we arrived. The place doesn't get the "play" of Vat Phou. But it is small in comparison and not in the best of form. In fact you could call it ruins.
