    Vientiane, luang prabang, vang vieng.

I've just arrived back in Lao after a 3 year absence most of it covid situation induced. I will try post up picks later but what I can gather is. Vientiane is quite devoid of tourists and also Expats who used to make up the majority of farangs. They seemed to have all bailed out? Took a trip to luang prabang and it was heaving with tourists. Likewise vangviang where I am now . I still have some mates here and it got ugly over the Xmas new year period but now there all back to work so it looks like I'm back to drinking alone. Dammit

Let's hope he's not in his garden shed, lying about it all.

Because that would be really pathetic.

The difference between a traveller and a sex tourist. I would imagine he took the new Chinese high speed train from Vientiane to there, and then continued on to Luang Prabang which I doubt you had heard of as well. That train is a game changer.

We flew to luang prabang for a few days and caught the train to vang vieng ( 1 hour) tomorrow we will train it back to vientiane . ( 1 hour) the train is indeed a game changer fantastic set up but the ticketing system sucks. Can't buy online, can't buy return, can only buy 48 hours before the trip, the luang prabang station is about 30 minutes outside the city and I'm told so is vientiane. Also you can't buy snacks or drinks at the station you need To bring your own beer etc. There is a new app but it doesn't upload to a Samsung. Also in vientiane you can only pay by BCEL one pay app which most tourists won't have but I'm told there's a bloke hanging around with his mobile phone and will pay it for you for a small fee. In luang prabang my mate got our tickets to vangvieng and when we arrived I bought the tickets to vientiane with cash there. No problem. Extremely clunky ticketing system

It used to take all day to drive to luang prabang from Vientiane, from luang prabang to vang vieng is very scenic but the train spends about 90% of its time in Tunnels, a fantastic work of engineering it has to be said but sadly it's real purpose is to fill Laos full of chinkys produce and chinks

i did a minibus from VV to LP the first time i visited, one of the most miserable journeys with people throwing up because of the shear number of corners - stopped halfway for a coffee and a sad looking baguette - was 7+ hours of misery. The next time flew from Vien to LP.

    True story.

In my younger, slimmer days, I pulled a big Laos pop singer in Vientiane. We met in a bar when I was on a visa run and she actually had bodyguards with her.

Unfortunately, as you can't seal the deal due to the draconian laws there, we had to retire to a back alley for a kiss and a fumble.

Subsequently, she used to send me her videos with millions of views on YouTube. After hearing them, I was glad I never got to experience her screeching in the privacy of my own bedroom.

She did have lovely tits though.

I'm sure they do, but I wasn't the old overweight cnut I am now and instead retired to the harem of office girls, grey girls and girls who were being sent money by fat Belgians for me to enjoy (if you're Belgian and have a Thai wife called Tukta, thanks for the memories ).

It was a time of plenty, but she did call me once to arrange to meet on Koh Samui. I never did, but I'd snap her fucking hand off now I'm touching 50 and I can barely see my toes when I look down!

Same problem Hal. 58 years old isn't to old but I'm feeling the result of my excesses constantly now
Went canoing on the namsong River with the wife and kids today which was great. Until.we stopped and I could not get out of the damn canoe without assistance. New years resolution. Loose weight. Having said that I'm sat in a hippie bar in vang vieng and there tempting me with the happy brownies,I'm damn tempted
