    fred's thread

I'm in central Java and would like to share a little of what I do here in the hope it will be of interest to some.
I'll spare you the naughty bits as I'm sure you don't want sheep enjoyers or even perverts using this as a dating thread.

A lot of cops carry guns.

This guy was with a bank cash delivery chap. They don't sod about and will use that popgun if anyone looks like they want the cash. They are also as slack as a whore's knicker elastic as you can see by the attention he's giving to potential threats.
Be happy dudes. It's a lot more fun than crying.

People are football crazy and Man U mad.

People tend to confuse Manchester as a city with Man U club to the point where my mate's marriage books say he's from Manchester united.
    Yes, it is true.

All schools and other public buildings have a flag ceremony every monday morning.
Even the SD (Primary schools) do one so the kids have to learn drill.

They even have drill competitions between schools.

This is me with two sheep and a nun. Sorry about the wrinkles in the nun's bum but she had just been sat on the washing machine while it was on fast spin.
The carrot was a right mess and we had to throw it away.

    The schools are amazing.
At the start and end of the day the whole class shake hands with the teacher like this.

Back to school. Each class has a work rota. Whoever is next has to sweep the class at the end of the school day.

The kids must wear scout uniform every Friday and Saturday.

Indonesian is the official language of the country but each area has it's own local language. Javanese is the most commonly spoken language here but it's written form is being lost. Kids learn it in school but it's never used except in tourist places.

seems Indonesia and Philippines do have alot more in common. This sign of respect is shown there too, and not only Muslims. By Christians too as well as the tribal groups

In Java there are no tribal groups I am aware of. Most schools are mixed but, as you would expect in an 86% Muslim country, Islam is the dominant religion in the majority. There are religious schools that are funded by Islamic or Christian groups but most go to state schools that are always mixed.
I've never been invited to a Christian based school so I have no idea what they do there but there is at least one I've seen here so I suppose they will catch up with me sooner or later.
Over here the schools are all going gila (Crazy) to become international standard schools. That means lessons like maths and the sciences are conducted in English.
That also makes English native speakers, in an area where there are only two of us, like gold.
There is another bloke near me but he's contracted so can't visit anywhere else and the next nearest is two and a half hours away but he has no interest in visiting schools. That leaves me.
Given their massive interest in having a native speaker visit I think I would have to arse shag the headmaster in the middle of the Monday morning flag parade before they stopped asking me to visit.

The visits are informal and not often. Immigration say they don't give a toss either way and it's the local intelligence cop's cousin that is sorting it out.

I have yet to actually bum the headmaster. If he has a sheep I may use him as a way of getting to her.
