I'm from the North of England. Been out here for less than three years but love life in Asia.
I'm married with a 2 year old baby daughter but I'm unjobbed.

Any donations to the fred's eating fund are welcome because I'm skint.
Now where was I?
Got it. Eid (Called hari raya or great day out here) is a serious party time.
Of course most are Muslims so no naughty boozing but loads of food do be had.
Every house puts out pots of biscuits or whatever and the whole village visits everyone else.

A lot of people out here are very poor. I guess that would be just as true in a lot of Thailand. Farming pays shit so methods have not changed a lot in a very long time.

Wow, I missed that, is it held every year?
Pushbikes 1-01
Motorbikes are very popular out here but need fuel.
That puts them out of the purse of a lot of people so pushbikes are very common.
They use them for anything they can.
They also tend to look after them so old bikes are common right down to dutch things left behind after WW2.
Not sure how old this one is but, this year's kit, it is not.

They overload the merry crap out of them.

Cook and sell sausages from them
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2010/02/964.jpg
Fancy an ice cream?
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2010/02/965.jpg
Or some fresh chicken?
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2010/02/966.jpg
thread of the year possibly? great stuff :)
I'll get back to the pushbikes and the filth later but, just by way of a break, it's a schools 60th birthday today and I have been invited to visit.
The students are strutting their funky stuff on stage.
Sorry about the first pic being crap but time is limited and I was only using my nokia from long range.

One of the teachers would have a reasonable future as a rock singer if he left education.
Next up were traditional Javanese dancers. These lasses are all 12 years old.

Elegant is not even close.
I'm still there as I type this so maybe more if I get the chance later.
I think there is something wrong with your neck also, that picture is slightly crooked.Quote:

Much as the buses here are dirty, crappy and usually dangerous, it can be interesting sometimes.
Now about those ruddy pushbikes.
When they really get going with the trikes you can get almost anything.
Bread.

Pizza
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2010/03/135.jpg
Breakfast. It's a rice thing called bubur that is really popular out here.
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2010/03/136.jpg
Iced tea.

Bugger. Forgot the children's rides.

People set up shops, selling pretty much anything, anywhere.
Fancy a cold fruit drink?
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2010/03/139.jpg
This was on the end of an Indomaret store.
It was run by these guys.

Loads out here. They wander around town giving rides. It costs Rp1000 for two songs of about 3 minutes each. Did I mention they have a battery operated PA system?
Same goes for most of the bikes and trikes. Each one plays a tune as they go around so you know who is coming around selling what.
The one that plays Christmas carols (Instrumentals) sells bread and so on.
The poor ones that can't afford a sound system simply shout what they are selling as they pass or, in the case of some food vendors, tap a spoon on a plate.
Michelle, my little shit monster, also thought it was cool.
