Oh fuck .if Mrs bld had told me she wanted a honeymoon in ubud or Bali the wedding would of been off. Luang prabang would of been more up my alley or even vang vieng there's a limit to how romantic I can get

really cant say that the food we ate was all that good despite trying various restos and being prepared to pay. maybe we were just going to the wrong places? i certainly ate better and cheaper in Laos

took a spin over to Sanur to have lunch with Switch. hadnt seen him in a few years since he left samui and moved to bali, he seemed quite happy with his lifestyle and we downed the bintangs and had a laugh.

The beach in sanur is a lot calmer and quite lovely

Local foods not up to much. Being close to Oz at least means we have a choice. Good to see you and the family again. The kids have been in gro bags since I last saw them.

Yeah I hear ya. I've never had to much trouble finding bars. Weird that you would need a dedicated bus full of Aussies to go to pubs probably also full of Aussies. Doesn't make much sense really

mostly because i heard it takes hours to get there as the traffic is so fucked even though its only about 50 kms away , full of alternative coonts i doubt me and them would of got on , but each to there own i suppose, if you do go and fancy a temple visit make sure yer arse is not in a sling. or just dont tell em?

Alternative? I think people go there to do yoga and they have some great healthy restaurants that cater to vegans and gluten free peeps.
I watch a lot of vlogs from people in Bali and other places and I agree what has been said about Bali and Ubud these days in that the traffic is horrific. Canggu is bad too as it is so built up now and there are many digital nomads that live there. Nice pics!

Bali offers a great deal of variety in many different lifestyles. It attracts many Australians because Oz is very close, but too expensive and bureaucratic.

Domestic travel is popular because the rest of Indonesia is even closer. The locals do seem more genuine than in Thailand, because in general they are more accepting of different lifestyles. The population is predominantly Hindu and visitors would be well advised to respect their culture and traditions. It’s not difficult, but moronic travelers will always come unstuck, because they miss the simple customs in some areas.

I find traffic is oppressive in some areas. Just like moronic travelers, those areas are easily avoided.
Visas have recently been revamped in order to make tourism easier.It seems the intention is to be able to do most of it online nowadays.

Having travelled around a great deal, it's easy to see the variety of opportunity here. Nice place, good people, sometimes spoiled by thoughtless twats.

Do you find that Sanur is over touristy or crowded as well? I read that Kuta, Ubud and Canggu are extremely touristy nowadays. I watch some of my favorite vloggers and was really enjoying the greenery, and less touristy areas of Munduk and north western Bali.

It’s a bit of a generalization, but Kuta/Legian is a bit touristy with pubs, clubs and malls.

Cangguu is more hedonistic, and Ubud has its share of fruit loop activist types who enjoy minority activities, religion and food.

I live in the suburbs of Denpasar where the choice of activity and dining is accessible, but not in your face.

Something for everyone here, easily avoidable if you want to.

Rice field views are popular for some, as is diving and scuba/surfing. All available if that’s your thing.

Travel outside the beach and tourist areas is possible, but tends to be a bit isolationist. It also curtails your choices of food and other entertainment.
