Ate at a tasty French resteruant yesterday evening, its in CITOS mall in south Jakarta.

fairly varied menu of crepes, tartine and escargots.

I tried the garlic butter and herb potato escargot, and tenderloin steak with orange cream sauce adn fresh vegetables.

no pics, but it was bloody lovely.

bill - about $35 for me and the missus.

Thumbs down This review is from an unhappy MrsKW

European Cuisine The Nine Muse Club
Address : DKI Jakarta Location : Jakarta, Indonesia Tel : (02) 722 11 88 Fax : (603) Email : The Nine Muses Club, is an elegant bar and restaurant, serving French European food with simplicity and generosity, live music performed by the most talented musicians in town to give a unique sensuality of The Nine Muses Club.

An Indo friend, who I am sure is well gay, was singing at this club last night (same time as KW, BLake7 & Butterfly were drinking it up at Blok M )

Anway MrsKW and a friend of hers went to this club last night, the ambiance was great, the singing was really good, nice place.

However, they thought the food was rather bland and boring (probably because it was not plastered in chilli).

they both ordered the Fish steak (I guess it was salmon... she just told me it was shit steak, supposed to be fish steak).

The bill the received was almost $200 for two. They were a bit shocked by this and asked to see the menu,

    the menu apparently said;

Fish Steak blah blah blah with a cheese sauce ...........100,000 Rupiah (or $10)

They then had it explained to them that the sauce was 100,000 Rupiah and that the fish was more like 500,000 Rupiah.

So for one meal and a single martini she paid about $80. (considering that even the Shangri La has US beef steaks for around only $20 or so and is still considered expensive)

    time for an update.

Mga Jing Krak has closed, went bankrupt, apparently its too expensive for indo food (main dishes starting at 150 baht )

    brief listing...

    Restaurants in Jakarta
    High end
Oasis (Menteng) – amazing experience from yesteryear Cs at the Grand Hyatt for seafood and steak (and the Japanese tepanyaki at the Hyatt is terrific) Emilie (Senopati) – excellent French restaurant. Loewys (Oakwood, Mega Kuningan) – excellent food and very cool bar. Euphoria (Menara Prima,Mega Kuningan) – new ‘place to be’.

    Medium to low price
Dapur Babah (Veteran) – set in an old Chinese home. Traditional but extensive menu. Shanghai Blue (Kebon Sirih) - same owner as Dapur Babah. Great jazz venue. Tony Roma’s (senayan and menteng) – best ribs in town Din Tai Fung (senayan and PIM2) – great noodles Lana Thai (Menteng) – excellent ambience (and martinis) Tomang (Jl Cipete raya, cilandak) – good cheap traditional seafood A trip up to Bogor to have brunch at the Novotel is well worth it. Cool, outdoor setting.

    Restaurants in Bali
    Seminyak area
mid-price range - Tratorria, Made’s Warung, SoHo, Rumours. higher prices - Living room, Hu’u, Breeze (in Samaya Villa), La Luciola
    Legian
Gado Gado – great food right on the beach
    Ubud
Bebek Bengil – great crispy fried duck looking over paddy fields Naughty Nuri’s – great martinis

    Jimbaran
    Seafood restaurants on the beach

Your right KW but the locals love paying a big bill irrespective of crap service and crap food, then they can show the bill off to their friends, sombong morons.

well, you lot obviously enjoy paying vast amounts of dosh for yer not very Indonesian nosebag....
If anyone is interested in cheap eating in Bali - Kuta area, I could recommend a few places frequented by Indonesians, with prices around 35000 Rupiah for two hungry people - but if Ku De Ta is the standard required...
