Bali's not known for its whooring, its mostly surfing , swirling bintangs with yer besties, making a cnut of yourself, that sort of thing. Personally I reckon it's over rated and it's only redeeming feature is its close to Oz and cheap and the folks are nice . Since covid the airlines have me by the balls and going through Bali with the family is the cheapest option, personally I would give it a swerve but figure I might as well get of and stretch the legs, swirl a few frostys

@backspin - what BLD^ said. My visit to Bali was very short (4 days) and I just did the usual touristy stuff like temples, ruins in the jungle, spa day, beach day, etc. I made a pic thread about it here.

Re: ladies of the night, I didn't see any but I was told that there are bars/ clubs in Kuta or Legian where you'll find ladies who are "friendly".

If you'll be coming from Canada then directly to Bali, I think it's too far and if you're not a temple/ jungle-loving person/ yoga spiritual type person/ digital nomad (or what the Aussies do - drink beer & get pissed ) then as BLD said, it may not be worth your while.

However, if you're coming to PH and want a short getaway from PH, then Bali is just 3 or 4 hrs away. (similar flight time to BKK or Kuala Lumpur) Pre covid, Cebu Pacific airline flew to Bali 2x/ week, so one could stay there either 4 or 7 days for a short vacay. I don't know the schedule of the airline now.

If you're interested in Bali, watch the vids of Gabriel Traveler - I liked his Bali series.

    ^probably. <Shrugs>

I think Backspin is scheduled to visit PH with his Filipina wife? If yes, then they'll probably spend some time with her folks, etc. Then maybe he's searching for where to hop off from Manila.

I think his wife would enjoy Bali. It's a popular tourist destination for yuppies/millenials here, since there are lots of Instagrammable places. I've seen some FB friends post pics from Bali (or BKK, SG, HK - those are the popular ones). Those with more wealth and/ or travel experience go to Korea or Japan. (PH citizens need visas for both countries.)

Especially when the furthest you venture from Surrey is 30 kilometers away. Big outing of plane spotting. Nice to dream about real travel eh moron?

    Today's outrage in Bali

Naked tourist in Bali temple leaves locals fuming
    Oct 05 2023

Authorities on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali say they have identified a tourist who was filmed meditating naked in a temple.

Footage of the nude traveller was posted on the Instagram page of local influencer Ni Luh Djelantik.

“So disrespectful. Meditating nak*d on our temple ? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR F*CKIN MIND?,” she wrote.

“How could you do this, humiliating Balinese and their belief? Immigration Officer please get this person, we’ve had enough! This is a humiliation to us Balinese people.”

Local police said they have identified the man, but he has not been taken into custody yet.

The latest incident follows a long line of misbehaving naked tourists on the holiday island.

Earlier this year, a Russian tourist was deported and banned from re-entering Bali for six months after he posted an image of himself with his trousers down while at the top of a sacred volcano.

Shortly afterwards, a woman was arrested after photos showing her naked by a sacred tree, and last year, a wellness guru and actor from Canada had to make a tearful apology after a video of his naked haka on top of a sacred mountain fell foul of the authorities.

In the first eight months of this year, more than 200 people have been deported from Bali, reported the New York Post. That compares to 188 for the entire of last year.
