The National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta and Ancol recreation park in North Jakarta were crowded with local visitors during the Idul Fitri holiday.
Monas management unit head Rini Hariyani told[at]tribunnews.com[at]on Wednesday that 11,034 people had visited the site from the beginning of the Idul Fitri holiday on Saturday until Tuesday. She added that the management expected 4,000 people in total to visit Monas by the end of the weekend.
"Monas is a popular site for people from inside and outside of Jakarta," she said, adding that several foreign tourists also visited Monas during the holiday.
On Wednesday, families also ventured into Ancol Dreamland, North Jakarta. As many as 72,836 people had visited Ancol Dreamland by midday Wednesday.[at]The large number of visitors caused traffic jams in several areas of Ancol Dreamland, such as roads leading to Ancol Beach City and Fantasy World (Dufan), the country's largest amusement park.
