    How to post a picture

Hi everyone, so you want to know how to post a pic on this forum. It is quite simple but until you know how it might seem daunting.

First off I want to encourage you to use the Teakdoor Gallery as your image host because it really is quite easy and will automatically resize your pic to a forum friendly size and look really snazzy. Of course, you can use your own image host or hotlink but if you have not sized your pic it may stretch your post and be way to big to be viewed properly.

As a Teakdoor member you are entitled to your own free User Gallery.

Goto the gallery, click create/order my gallery, then click new, and then type the name of the album, ie motorbike pics album, then click apply modifications and then your away

(note, this has several galleries already that have been created)

Place your mouse cursor over the little house on the top left and more optins will open, Then Click on 'Upload file' and you will be taken to the upload page where you can use either the browse function or paste in a url.

Once you have selected the pic that you would like to upload to your gallery (by either double left clicking the pictures name, or single left click and then "Open".

When you have the pics listed you want to upload simply click 'Continue' and you will only have to wait a few seconds while the Gallery grabs the pic.

I have used this pic just as an example.

You will then have the 'successful upload' page come up.

Now choose the album you want to store your picture in.

Add any picture description you want or keywords and stuff to help you find it in the future.

Again, click 'Continue' and in just a few more seconds be taken to the Gallery with your pic now successfully loaded into your gallery.

The gallery has 'Random files' appearing at the top and your pictures shown in 'Last additions'.

So now you want to post the pic on the forum or maybe somewhere else on the net.

All you need to do is simply left click on the image that you want to post, if you want the largest size left click your image that is now at the top again.
Now right click the image, scroll down to properties, left click and highlight the url, easiest is to double left click it and then copy it.

For firefox users just right click and copy the image location.
Navigate to where you want to paste the pic on the forum and click the little box with the mountains and yellow sky, in the new box that opens up take out the http:// and put in your url.

It really is quite simple once you have done it a few times and gotten used to it.

If you have any specific questions, please post them here and I will do my best to answer your query.

    Have fun.

KM's Pic Posting Tutorial - with pics!
Uploading pics to TeakDoor Gallery. The explanation for each step is under each pic.

At the top of every page you’ll see these header choices. Left click on Gallery.

The page which opens looks like this. Move your mouse to the little house on the left at the top of the screen.

When you hover over the house you’ll see these options. Click on ‘upload file’.

This tutorial presumes you’re uploading a file from your own computer, so click ‘browse’.

It will open the directory on your computer. Locate the files you want to upload. Select them one at a time.

Either double click on the highlighted file or click ‘open’. Result will move your file to TD’s upload.

Repeat this process to a maximum of ten files. You’ll need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the blue button marked ‘continue’.

Click ‘continue and wait until you get the following message.

When you see the ‘successful uploads’ screen you can click ‘continue’ again.

Now you have to decide where you want the file kept on your TD gallery. Click the down arrow ‘v’ for ‘select album’.

Choose which album you want to place the pic in and underneath type anything you want to say about the pic. Then click ‘continue’.

If you’ve done it correctly TD will tell you that it has been successful. You will need to repeat this process for every pic you uploaded which is tedious to say the least.
Now, if you want to see your pics DO NOT click ‘continue’ or you will be taken to the gallery front page.

Go back to the little house at the top of the screen and click ‘My gallery’.

The screen which opens will show all your albums. If you have many you’ll need to scroll down to find the newest one which loads at the bottom. (Admin are you reading this).

Click on your new album which here is ‘Pics Tutorial’.

This will open all the pics in this particular album. Click on the pic you want to post.

If you want to post the pic in this size right click and select ‘copy image location’.
Be careful NOT to select ‘copy link location’. If you want to show the pic in the full size of the file then first you must click on the pic itself to increase the size, like this.

Now you can right click and select ‘copy image location’.

Now, go back to the thread on the forum where you wanted to post the pic and click on the yellow box of the mountains. This will open the url page. Easiest way for this step is to use the key board. Press ‘Ctrl v’ which will paste the url link of your pic. You can use the mouse to paste with but make sure you delete the ‘http’ which is already there, otherwise you’ll get it twice and your pic will not show.

If you’ve done this correctly you will be able to see some of your pic in the small screen before you click ‘Post Quick Reply’.

If you see the little square box instead of your pic you have selected ‘copy link location’ instead of ‘copy image location’.

Now really, this is quite a process, but once you’ve done it a couple of times you will be able to do it quite quickly.

For most of my travel threads I load them to one of my own websites and just link from there. Good for SEOs both for me and for TD.

For general things though, I upload pics to my gallery and link from there.

    Hope this helps. Cheers. KM…

Theres already a few threads about how to post pictures but I had an hour spare so I did these videos.

The first one is how to upload a picture after you have set the gallery up with an album.

    Viddler.com - Teakdoor Gallery1 - Uploaded by melvbot

The second one is how to create a new folder and move pictures between the folders if you need a bit more organisation in your gallery

Viddler.com - Creating a folder and moving pictures - Uploaded by melvbot

The third one is how to delete individual files and whole folders.

Viddler.com - Deleting pictures and whole albums - Uploaded by melvbot

These videos are best viewed in fullscreen, if you look on the player controls for the four arrows icon and click it you'll get a decent sized and decent resolution video so you can see which buttons are used and where.

If the mods want to move/merge/delete this then go for it.

Hopefully this will be easy to follow for anyone struggling to upload pics.

This appears to be BS. I upload jpeg files that open fine on all my players but when I upload to the gallery I get the message: "upload failed. File is too big according to maximum file size permitted."

While I've rarely know CMN to be wrong, I'm guessing your picture is bigger than 1024Xwhatever.....

I resize my pictures to a 800 pixel width and that works fine.

Right, and try re-sizing 100 pix or so. Pain in the ass.

Not really, I use GIMP and a script that automates the process, I just point the script at directory of pictures, then the script resizes them, enhances the beta signatures, decreases the sub rasterization and color balances and then resizes them into a subfolder called "resized".

Google Drive doesn't work so simply. Which file sharing service do you use?

Is there any way to upload from an iPad? The hover to bring up the menu doesn't function in safari on iOS. So I can't find the upload file option is not there.
