    Mahahing(exturnal mixture)

The missus has recently started using this foul smelling mixture for external use on our baby's stomach.

    Apparently good for digesting.

I can't acces pages describing this product on google tonight,
    So anyone..........

Ps. Is it normal and/or OK not to use Vitamin-D for the first year of the Baby's life ?

Its a must where I come from.

    Thanks Helge

Very helpfull as I know what Asafetida is. (Alcohol I'm familiar with).
Apparently you can eat Asafetida, so that calmed me down a bit. Still smells bad thoughAnd furthermore releases gasses. Hmm

Avoiding spirits - In Jamaica, asafoetida is traditionally applied to a baby's anterior fontanel (Jamaican patois "mole") in order to prevent spirits (Jamaican patois "duppies") from entering the baby through the fontanel. In the African-American Hoodoo tradition, asafoetida is used in magic spells as it is believed to have the power both to protect and to curse. In ceremonial magick especially from The Key of Solomon the King, it is used to protect the magus from daemonic forces and to evoke the same and bind them.

Bloody useful stuff by the look of it.

    Yup, medicine is weird.

My mate was told recently, in all seriousness, that the reason he had a bad back was because he'd eaten too much chicken !

Nothing to do with the sweet little thing he'd recently taken home with him.

    She claimed that it cures
    Blindness
    Cancer
    Paralysis
    Hair loss
Liver sclerosis, to name but a few of its remarkable abilities.

    Fvcking amazing stuff

Not sure, but your baby may be getting enough Vitamin D already, considering how far south you are in LOS. Where are you from? If it's northern climes that you hail from, that could explain why Vitamin D is so common with kids.

There was a big push this summer to get people taking Vitamin D supplements in the States. I can't remember the particulars but there was something said about not being able to get enough Vitamin D through sunlight and milk, etc., if you were from above a certain latitude.

My friend's Thai wife has just had a baby in Australia and he spoke about this stuff they rub on babies belly to relieve gas pain. His wife wanted some brought back to Aus. I don't think customs would allow it into the country. It sounds like it would be okay. I'll forward this thread on to him.
    Thanks.
