Just a thought: a diet/nutrition, separate from a training/exercise thread could be helpful.

Shit! We have to eat rabbit food as well as do exercise?!
Life seems not worth bothering with sometimes...
Well my sickness lasted a couple of weeks and didn't do much work over that time so have been busy recently catching up. But I have been down the gym a few times and am starting to get back to my routine now.
Partly due to sickness, partly due to being skint (no beer money) and partly due to exercise I have come down to 77.5 Kgs, which I don't think I have been at for years. Fat is dropping off, and muscles building up nicely.
It's a fantastic boost when you see the results so I will be back in the gym tomorrow.
This thread needs a boost too, how's everyone else doing?
Nice work Madness.
On my last trip to Thailand I put on 3 kilo in 7 weeks mainly through drinking beer , its taken me 8 weeks to lose 1.5 kilo, its been a hard slog as I've been slack with my cardio work.
I usually ride my push bike but haven't been, only been walking, doing weights and had no beer for 6 weeks.
Hope to lose another kilo diving in the Similans, this is a sure fire way to lose weight.
Also going to modify my diet after this trip to cut out most sugers and step up my training through out winter, Google up this book, " The New Glucose Revolution. "
I'm weighing in at 84.5 kilo, I'm feeling good at 83 but want to drop down to 81 by stripping those few kilo of fat of my gut but this is the hardest part.
I recon I'm good enough, looking at those fat bastards always gives me divine intervention.![]()

To successfully lose weight you need both of the above so I cant see the point, except if one has cancer and then one can drop the whole lot.
I work with a guy who is a skinny unhealthy little weed because his diet and nutrition is shite so diet and nutrition is very important, goes hand in hand with exercise and training.
Its very important to do light weights as when one ages as we loose muscle mass , this effects every thing we do and one of the main things you see is people with bad backs.
Maintaining muscle mass supports the spine and the worst thing for our backs is to sit around all day drinking piss and not walking.
This is the downfall of many older farang as when one has a bad back one is usually foked.

5 months now off the booze and painkillers. I've gone from a fat bloated belgian beer belly 91 kilo to a slightly paunchy 80 kilo.
I try to swim a couple of times a week, definitely not obsessing on exercise.
I watch what I eat and drink. Plenty of fruits, som tam and such, lots of green tea.
My lady friends make flattering comments on occasion, no more pompui for me!
I still have the occasional cravings for a icy cold glass of scotch and codeine. But they seem to pass fairly quickly lately. I still can't look at a tall cold bottle of beer without some longing.
A couple of my close pals have already died of liver cancer so I reckon I'm lucky to be able to nip the trend now.
I'm zipping around Thailand on my big ugly ass BMW eating fish curries and other weird stuff in local truck stops getting a bigwherever I go.
Everyone keep up the good work.![]()
I am still at 113 kg. Hope to break that in the next 2 weeks and start heading towards 110 and lower!

After a week's break, me & Reinvented got back onto the weights last week. I'm doing lighter weights with more repeats than Re' is. It's still early days, but hopefully we'll start to see a bit of difference in a few weeks time.
I'm not measuring success by weight, rather than by just feeling better and having a smaller waist.
Yes I think its a bit foolish to measure success by weight, especially if you are actively adding muscle as well. Looking in the mirror should be enough for anyone. But I thought I would grab the scales and see what it said.
I think it's the people who check the scales daily that are the first to get disheartened and give up their diet/exercise routine.
Can I suggest you don't visit Timba's steak restaurant as often.I am still at 113 kg. Hope to break that in the next 2 weeks and start heading towards 110 and lower!

Well since you missed a week or exercise, yes you bloody well do!

Bugger...
Well I've had some fish pasta so that's my carbs and protein sorted, will be hitting the gym in a few hours and hoping to get a real sweat going on that bike.
At the moment definitely not pushing myself as much as I need to.

I can't get fat to save my life - envy on.![]()

That's about the age my uncle decided to change careers and become an aerobics instructor. I am still amazed at it. There he is, grey hair and all, jumping around. He was operating heavy machinery before that.
If you have been in good shape before it's much easier to get back to it.
So just do something. A little movement goes a long way. Personally I hate gyms with a passion, but there are many other things you could do. Tennis or something like that, chi gong in one of those classes in the park, yoga... they key for me is to find something I enjoy. That mia noi idea is not half bad...![]()
Ain't gonna be much left of you then..Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
Are you sure that rugby will be the right sport ??? I think womens soft-ball would be a better choice, even through they prefer there players a little more masculine
I dont need stamina...I have the power that I need...Wouldent hurt to lose a few pounds through...Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

Good post this, says it all.
Very hard if one has never been concerened about his fitness and is only doing it because one has finally realized one has turned into a fat unhealthy smelly foker.
Not the end of the world, being consistent is the key, don't over do it, start out slowly and don't expect miracles.
If one can just manage to do something every second day and modify ones diet it will happen.

Update on my progress - have dropped off 7lbs now, and am now going for the next 7. Done nothing special yet, cut out a slice of toast in the morning for breakfast and just have a couple of crackers and cheeese for a late night snack instead of a sandwich. The warm weather aint started yet so the mowing exercise that I usually get has not fully got under way.Originally Posted by Propagator

I had last week off as I was upcountry, but I'll be training again tomorrow night. It hasn't made a difference yet, but I didn't expect it to.
It took me a year to really see a difference. I hope in another 6 months I will be where I want to be.
