True that, but as we get older if we don't take care of ourselves we probably won't live as long or will develop more serious problems.
Diabetes runs in my family and I am trying to do what I can to hopefully avoid it, my grandma got it right after menopause so.. I am hoping it skipped a generation... but I definitely at a high risk of getting it. Sorry to hear about your neighbor, cancer is so horrible. One of my best friends died from it a few years ago, he was quite obese and found out three months before he died he had stage 4 cancer.

Was watching this video about Sugar.. sugar addiction is a real thing, studies have been done that shows that sugar acts like cocaine on the brain in relation to addiction.

We definitely need some salt in our diet as sodium is an electrolyte, but the recommended amount is about 500 mg's which equals to 1/4 tsp.
Many people eat far too much salt, and it is added in many things we don't even recognize it may be in like as you mention soy sauce.
I was trying to buy cooked rice one time and salt was added to it. Canned veggies even add salt.

    Bloody hell stumpy.

You put mother teresa, jesus christ, michael jordan, charles darwin and nelson mandela to shame what with your swimming, your triathlons, your fearless exploring of the jungle surrounding the ponderosa, your engineering work, your woodwork, your healing of the sick, your attendance at everyones weddings and the thousands of good deeds you dispense to the less forunate on a daily basis, etc.etc.etc.

And Its a good job you spend so much time telling us all about it too, otherwise how would we know. Is there no end to your philanthropy, your stamina and your trumpet blowing.

A sainthood surely awaits, hopefully the pope logs on to your threads on teak door to take notes.

If you haven't noticed that it's a joke of a health food thread by now then you're beyond hope.

You should not normally start a sentence with a conjunction, but if you do then no need to capitalise the I. Even a rhetorical question requires a question mark at the end. And the Its requires an apostrophe.

    You're welcome.

Seems to be quite a few people aspiring to be BBQ ing and swirling frostys while watching sport on the TV and having a swim in the pool. Perhaps these chaps have champagne dreams on a laokao budget?

Still quite jealous of the stumpsters chainsaw collection I see. Seems there's no end to you being an asshole Mr dental surgeon. You do know? Sarcasm is the lowest form of humour. Tax. You come across as a miserable old fart. Why all the negativity? Did you not retire from that stellar career with a few quid ? I suspect you've got some issues old son.

Or not as wealthy as he would have hoped. Hence the scamming £ from the honest taxpayers to heat his hovel during winter.

You would think as a retired dental surgeon you would get the fuck out of the UK for the winter instead of just hanging out in the bumfuck hovel , grinning that's he's had a win on subsidised heating. Wow. And then has the audacity to try to take the piss out of stumpys lifestyle. when I see stumpys threads I see a guy enjoying life. And giving a lot of us a rare glimpse into a lifestyle most can only dream of. Tax is certainly confounded by a lifestyle he can never hope to live. He doesn't have clue I suspect.

Doesn't mean I have to accept it. I appreciate that you have an identity crisis going on and it's common with confused millennials that feel entitled. They lash out thinking they are going to change it all. When you grow up and out of that phase, you will see. It's like the people that Tat their face or do a full sleeve and don't get why they can't land that big career job unless you are a rock musician ( which clearly you aren't). So paint away, toss on eyeliner and rock on.

Btw, neither of my daughters have children so I am not a Grandad. Am I older, sure.

a lifestyle most can only dream of
Just about every farang worth his salt living in Thailand has a high standard of living, especially those who have worked here, or professional retirees with a decent pension and who have saved and invested wisely. Pool villas, condos, a couple of rai of land to build on, especially if you have a Thai wife with local knowledge, and out in the sticks such homes can be bought and run for pocket money compared to prices in the west.

The fact that you can only dream of living well suggests you have not managed your money well and are financially illiterate as well as being culturally and literally illiterate.
One would have thought that expat ditch digging paid a decent tax free wage, and those shovel jockeys who didnt spaff their money on diseased ethiopian prostitutes and booze would be well set up for life once retired. You obviously have little to show for your years of hard labour apart from cirrhosis and a bloated gut and maybe thats why you can only dream of a better life.

Stumpy has a decent life, hes got a decent gaff and all the manly toys that an american "dude" needs to feel fulfilled, a bit like comfort blankets i suppose., but you BLD, what have you got?
