    Dupuytren's Contracture

Dupuytren's (du-pwe-TRANZ) contracture is a hand deformity that usually develops over years. The condition affects a layer of tissue that lies under the skin of your palm. Knots of tissue form under the skin — eventually creating a thick cord that can pull one or more fingers into a bent position.

Just wondering if any of you have had it. If so, were you treated in LOS?

My late father suffered from something similar. It was operated on in England by the NHS many years ago, with only limited success.
I have inherited some minor swelling and deformity in the little finger of both hands. It’s more like the effect of age related osteo arthritis. Never been more than a minor inconvenience, so no western or Asian surgery needed for me.

I am at grade 2, right now. Surprisingly, not painful, unless I try to stretch it out. Catching a ball can be painful.
Went to a hand specialist the other day.
It’s treated by surgery, or injection. One shot is around $3000, and with my shit insurance, most of that will be out-of-pocket. Hoping to find out where I can have it done in Thailand.

Meatworkers often get it or did when I was working in workers compensation cases. Small fragments of bone shear off during boning (now there's a word for many uses) of carcases in the abbatoirs and penetrate the skin of the hand and affect the tendons over time causing the tendon to shorten, resulting in the finger to curl over time.

Have any of you sufferers beeen indulging in boning of one kind or another?

Being married with kids, has put a damper on my boning frequency.
