^I did my due dilligence in advance and was well aware of the risks, something like 1 in 10,000 go wrong from memory. Could've done 1 at a time with an interval in between, chose not to.

I presume you got multi focal lenses. What was the cost in Oz?

    Both eyes have patches?
Mine were supposed to be done at the same time but after the flaps were cut one of my eyes had bubbles form that can interfere with the tracking of the pupil, so I had to go back the next day to finish that eye after the bubbles settled. Took about two minutes.

You don't get patches. You get freezing drops for a couple days and some sleeping pills to make you sleep. The only pain is when the drops wear off, so you just add more. You can see better immediately, with it getting even better every day for about a week.

They gave me Ativan for the surgery. They suction cup the laser to your eyeball and you basically see a kaleidoscope of swirling lights with a red dot in the middle you are to focus on. That gave me a bit of vertigo, but its over quick.

    I got Intralase SBK.

To those here who have had the corrective Lasik (laser eye surgery), did you have both eyes done at the same time?

Cataract surgerys a walk in the park. A few years back I had to have emergency surgery in bangkok for a detached Retina. What a fucking nightmare that was. I bunged up a thread on it in here somewhere. A couple years later the same thing in the other eye.

Mate of mine went bungy jumping, got a detached Retina.

    No thanks

I have enough floating bits in my eyeballs.

Yep, multi focal lenses cost was about AUD 8000

Eyes done 24 hours apart. Was knocked out for about 20 mins - painless, used eye drops for next month.

I looked at the laser option, in fact they gave me contact lenses to try to show how the result would be. I rejected this option as the correction makes each eye have differing vision which Your brain adjusts for after a few days. (This is to allow for distance and reading)

Very happy with the Lens replacement surgery.

...update: 1st free consultation (part of the package) after surgery...healing continues apace without complication. Next consultation in a week...Nurse Ratchet (SD) continues with the eyedrops (anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and a lubricant)...

Hi! Newbie here... the most striking thing I noticed after having my cataracts removed and new lenses implanted was the colour of the operating room floor. It was yellow through the eye that hadn't been done and white through the eye with the new lens.

I was offered that as well and got an instant headache looking through the lenses, so I just went for distance and both eyes the same.

Would you consider your eyes perfect now, or do you still see some halos?
