I put a good effort into it.
Given that every ride is a (flat) road ride, oddly enough a mountain bike.
Picked it up a few years ago with the intention of doing MTB trails 2-3 times a week for fun.
Turned out I can't be arsed loading it up, driving out there etc, and instead have taken up road riding for my daily cardio/legs.
Would have bought a road bike if I'd known.
Seem to average 25kph on 20-50km rides, so I think it's fair to say that on a road bike it would be an average of 60kph+
@Edmond .... “Seem to average 25kph on 20-50km rides, so I think it's fair to say that on a road bike it would be an average of 60kph+“
60 kph ? Seeing as Filippo Ganna has the record average speed in a time trial of 58kph (last year’s Giro ) somehow I don’t think you will beat that on an ordinary road bike....or even a top spec time trial bike !
Chris Froome won the TDF at an average speed of 40kph a couple of years ago.
How are you calculating your speed ? GPS on the Strava app ? Notoriously inaccurate! Or cycle computer and speed sensor ? In which case have you got the right wheel size registered ?

I may have overestimated it a little bit.
You'll do well not to take people seriously on here.
As for speed calculation, I think Garmin have paved the way. I'm still using the same Fenix 3 HR watch that I've had for many years and the battery still lasts nearly 2 weeks as is, with a 10% battery loss per hour with GPS active.
Lang may yer lum reek...
My Trek was recently 'treated' to some new Vee Tires and I went Tubliss while I was at it. They never held pressure since I got it back and now it's back at the shop for them to deal with, at their own expense of course. The tires had tiny holes around it that would not have mattered with an inner tube, that the Tubliss system should have plugged immediately. Fail + fail.
Here he is.
Ed the peddler.
Its no good for your love life, that cycling malarkey
It's not so much about speed than power. Ganna is able to go fast and win time trials because he cuts a very aero figure on a bike (despite being about 83kg) while somehow managing, for a time trial such as the length of the one in last year's Giro, to average over 500 watts for the duration. Which, to those in the know, is fucking Herculean.
On the subject of mountain bikes, I'm now a member of the club. Ditched the road bike. Too fucking dangerous in the winter, and spring, and autumn, and, err, summer.
Back to it slowly slowly.
Abs, chest, delts, pecs smashed in the morning.
Another 3 post-Christmas months before back to normal fitness I reckon.
Good work.
Gonna rip the chest, triceps and shoulders today.
Gonna purchase some scales for the weigh in!

A bowl of porridge with 2 bananas then back and biceps in the 24 hour gym before work.
I could grow to like training at 4am!
New year, new regime.
