    Healthy Times

My Cholesterol has gone up, so I kicked the statins in to touch, as they were causing problems.

So as soon I got back to Ubon, My GF and I have gone onto a very health diet.

this thread is a log of my diet and exercise regime that i will be following everyday.

First off in the morning getting all the horrible things out of the way.

    1. Tablespoon of apple vinegar
    2. tablespoon of Turmeric
3 lemon grass, and mint Tea( thats pretty tasty)
    4. 6 raw cloves of garlic

    Breakfast today

    Apple, watermelon, and pineapple juice.

    mushroom, onion and garlic omelette
    Brown bread roll,
mango, green peppercorn, carrot, ginger, and corriander salad
    passion fruit and banana.
English Tea ( though still taking sugar, will stop)

The hardest part of the new health regime will be stopping smoking, so I'm cutting down to start, and getting all the refined sugar shit out my diet.

Off walking now, and then swim, was going to use the gym for this, though some lovely parks to walk around the area.

I'm dreading my GF's menu, as she wants to get all the laos and Isaan ingredients for juice etc

lunch to follow is a hearty Veg soup, without bread I hope.

Rather than me going through a whole list of health benefits, why don't you inform me what's not healthy in the post, and then we can debate, though I rather think you are only here to trash the thread once again?

And you may find that eating whole fruits or blending the juice still holds the fiber, and also you may find that juices will not be part of my diet every day.

so please if you wish to debate the subject, put your points forward in a non-troll way.

I think you'll find that I won't find that because juicing removes the majority of the fiber.

Additionally it makes it calorically dense.

You likely couldn't eat 6 oranges but you could drink them juiced in a matter of seconds absent the benefits of the satiating fiber.

Stop being so precious. I feel you are projecting your own trollish nature and inclinations.

You put that forward as an example of a 'healthy' meal so I simply asked you what, to you, is 'healthy' about it. Looks like an excess of calories to me.

Why hope without bread? Even if it's with bread you don't have to eat it.

I love bread, sacrificing the bread is a killer for me, soup and bread go together.

    Easy.

    1:

    Jog/run (45-60mins) or cycle (1.5-2hours) every morning.
    Upperbody gym every afternoon.
Abs, triceps, delts and pecs on MWF
    Abs, biceps, back on TT

This morning was a 7km jog in around 48 minutes.

Cut down on sugars and stodge.

Turmeric is surprising stuff. When I tore my rotator cuff in February, the doc told me to start taking it as an anti-inflammatory to keep me off opioids and get some stomach relief from the NSAIDs I was taking. Turns out the stuff completely took care of my allergies that bothered me every spring.

Hard to get simpler than jogging/cycling in the morning.

Morning cardio is great, combined with cutting out/down on sugars and stodge.

    Good man.

Personally I find swimming laps as utterly boring. No music and nothing to look at.

Keep up the walking, when I started it was around Sir Aging One's park, 2km circuit, walked one lap and was foked. Had to stop at the closest shop for sweet fried banana chips and lime honey soda. Around 18 months later I completed a 10km running race in under 60 minutes. Cycling is great too, with less wear and tear on the ol' pegs.

I've never enjoyed running, swimming to me is one of the better forms of exercise, cycling ye for sure, is enjoyable.

I haven't exercised for years, so best to take it easy on myself.

Though to be honest I'm more concerned about the food I've been eating, when I've been working very long hours, food is something you do when finished, and it was usually crap.

now semi-retired time to up my game.

Well you should quite honestly. It will give you a baseline of activity level. Active hours per day, heart rate calories burned etc. Your walk might be ok but may not do much for you if you really are working to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

As I am sure you are aware healthy is a balance of eating right and at the right times, understanding your activity levels.

Whatever you choose, good luck. Always keep in mind that not all "Healthy Diet Activity" plans work for every person. You will likely have to experiment.

swimming/walking is a more pleasurable activity to me, and less strenuous on the body and very good for the lungs and heart and tones muscle and builds strength.

Walking for fitness is a great approach in many countries.

I’ve never met anyone who does it at sufficient pace with enough regularity for it to be highly beneficial in Thailand, though.

And I for one don’t blame them.

Tasty stuff but like so many other tasty morsels best not to eat unless you want a high dose of nitrates.
