Foreigners in Thailand may have to wait until August before receiving vaccinations from the government, City Hall's top health official said yesterday.

Panruedee Manomaipiboon, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's (BMA) Health Department director, said the Health Ministry aimed to vaccinate everyone in Thailand, including foreign residents and immigrants.

"We need to build herd immunity, which means we cannot segregate Thais and foreigners. The government has prepared enough vaccine for everyone in Thailand," she said.

The plan is to vaccinate those most a risk first, such as medical staff and other frontline workers, those with underlying conditions, the elderly, and then move on to the general public.

As for foreigners, only immigrant workers in Samut Sakhon have been vaccinated so far to curb the provincial cluster outbreak, she said.

Nevertheless, she said that foreign residents may have to wait until August to register for vaccination.

"As I have said before, the Health Ministry plans to vaccinate Thais first. We will try our best to vaccinate Thais within two months, namely June and July, and then try to open foreign resident registration in August," Ms Panruedee said.

The Health Ministry will leave no one behind regardless of their nationality, she stressed.

For registration, she insisted it should be done via the Mor Prom mobile application, to reduce the risk of infection.

As it turns out, I will be traveling back to the US in a month or so. I will wait and get the Pfizer or Moderna. It's free and no waiting.

City Life Chiang Mai reported that special batches of Covid-19 vaccinations are being sourced for foreign residents of Chiang Mai.

It is hoped that all foreigners residing in the province will be vaccinated as early as June.

And it will be free.

The site said that you could email vaccinecm@hotmail.com.

Or apply via Line at 0960138522 (also the number of an information hotline).

Alternatively register at Mor Phrom or a local hospital.

You'll need a photocopy of your passport page, proof of residential address and an email address.

The media said that the Chiang Mai Provincial Office is making a special bulk order.

When it arrives you will be instructed to go to a vaccination center at a hospital.

I had heard the same AO. I do not think it's as hard to get as some like to banter on about. I was scheduled for June 12th here for first shot. My wife called and politely ask to remove us from the Schedule.

Or, and hear me out here, it is an absolute shit show in which nobody knows what it really going on. You can get contradictory directives issued on the same day as to whether foreigners can get vaccinated. You may well have rucked up and got told it was Thai only. Or got it. Who knows.

Oh Yeah I agree Nid. This is the typical MO around these parts. Nothing is consistent. I never read the news here or follow it, there is really no point. I just do my thing and report back what I am able to do for the area I live.

yeah - cool. It is the same as the immigration department. One office is completely different from the next.

The key question might be, what percentage of Thais will be done first before the farangs get a go? Not all Thais will take vaccination, so it cannot be 100%.

Having tried the Mor Prom app and failed for reasons unknown, I took a trip to the main hospital today. Never got past the attack dog on the front door. It seems to be her job to say 'No' without saying 'No' and we spent about 15 minutes listening to 'No'. We explained politely that I didn't expect to get vaccinated on the spot, merely to get registered, so that when the happy day comes I will be on the list. 'No.'

I did learn one thing. Some Thais have registered at private hospitals and at government hospitals. When that happens, the computer picks them out, she said, and they are turned away from the government hospital because they are only allowed to register once. Who knows what is true? Even she said that what you see on the news doesn't always match the instructions that the ministry sends to the hospital and anyway the rules are changing frequently. Situation normal.

Personally I expect nidhogg and jp to be proven right and there will be huge variations province by province, day to day, and possibly hour by hour.

At the third attempt I was successful in registering on the Mor Prom app using my pink ID.
Having done that, the app tells me there are no vaccination dates available. One step forward, on step back.

Was supposed to get Astra on June 2nd 9am. At first I was told I was already pre registered by my employer. But yesterday I got a Line message saying to enter my PP number to verify all. So I did. Up popped this. " Thank you for registering for SINOVAC" It really was in red, so then I had to figure out how to cancel the appointment. Astra had run out. Looks like early July.

I just this afternoon got notification of an appointment through work. Fucking Sinovac. Looks like I will be waiting a bit longer.

Local production of AZ has so far only yielded 50% of what was expected, I'm registered for a AZ jab on 7th of June but expect that to be postponed.
It is ok for me as a retiree, I can stay in home a couple of weeks more, better that those get it first who can't avoid mass exposure to people in their work.

I'm expecting the same so until AZ available will wait as well.

I got a call from my local hospital on Thursday evening (3rd June) to tell me to front up for my appointment on the 7th to get the AstraZeneca shot. Will see what happens.

As promised an update and as expected, got a call from Tambon clinic saying jab scheduled for today postponed. Only 60 doses of AZ are available for the entire Ampore which need to provide jabs for 147 mubans.

Clinic wll call when vaccine available.

Good news is at least they called before going to clinic and told no hab.

Here they put up a sign yesterday on the university gate saying that vaccination was postponed indefinitely due to technical reasons.

I've registered twice before and now they want me to register a 3rd time on a newly invented app that is connected to the immigration so that they can check that I live on Samui and am not a landcrab coming here just to get a jab.
Fokk them and their vaccine rollout, they have now due to shortage of AZ vaccine decided that Sinovac is ok for the over 60's and I don't want that shit.
I'm on my way to sign up for a jab of US vaccine on a private hospital when the idiots in charge stops stalling the import of them.

Got my AZ jab this morning as scheduled. Impressively well organized operation at my local hospital and was given a date for the second shot on 27 September. There were over 200 people there but I was the only farang to be seen.

Got a new appointment 10th this month. Supposed to be AstraZenca. We shall see.
