Hang in there BLD. By the way, you now know the difference between being young and being old. A young man is always wondering when he will get laid next, while an old man is always wondering about his next dump. Hope it goes well!

Well mate, considering all you have said so far, think I will put it off for now. Other than a large lump, no pain or other symtoms. Keep keeping us informed please. Still might change my mind.

May have missed it but any estimate of cost?

That is a very bad idea. Put it this way, it almost certainly not going to get better on its own, and so it can only get worse over time. If it strangulates, you move from a minor operation to a life threatening condition. Secondly, a smaller hernia is easier to treat than a large one.

I would strongly urge you to get it professionally looked at, at the very least.

You are right. Putting it off is not a wise option. I have had it looked at recently and was told I should get it taken care of. I just keep putting it off. It is not small. In fact quite large.

Off to hospital Monday to get it started.
