Health certificate for returning to Thailand (& other ASEAN countries)

    Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)

I can't get this site to load, so I don't know which countries are on the list, but I heard that the UK is on the list for Indonesia, but doesn't seem to be for Thailand. Not sure about Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, or elsewhere. Most transfers in the Middle East seem to be going ahead.

    Any info?

(I dunno what section this goes in, it could probably go in one of a few)

The new measure requires all nationalities arriving in the kingdom to show a medical certificate, issued no more than three days prior to their arrival, have purchased an insurance plan for COVID-19 and giving consent to allow authorities to install a monitoring application on their smart phone.

Is there an official Thai government website stating that?

    How about other countries?

I've got other ASEAN country residents on board, just wondering, as not everyone on here lives in Thailand.
I've seen some info, but nothing beyond news sites and second hand info.

    Thailand
Travellers who have recently been in affected countries require a health certificate stating that they are not affected by coronavirus. Self-monitor for 14 days.

scuse the background, this lifted straight from the 'net

the key thing in my last post was ''Travellers who have recently been in affected countries..''

Who determines the level of affect?

Nearly all the Worlds countries are affected

I picked up my long-stay visa from the Thai Consulate in Dubai this week - no problem getting it, they were sure BKK would not be closing etc, and no, no requirement for med cert or insurance

This was straight from the Thai consulate website, dated march 16th, and clarified the VOA situation for some countries and that visa issued (like mine) remain valid:

    1. VISA EXEMPTION offered unilaterally by the Royal Thai Government for nationals and/or holders of passports/travel documents of

    1. Hong Kong SAR,
    2. Italy,
    3. Republic of Korea and;

    2. VISA ON ARRIVAL (VoA) schemes for nationals and/or holders of passports/travel documents of
    (1) Bulgaria (11) Mexico
    (2) Bhutan (12) Nauru
    (3) People’s Republic of China (13) Papua New Guinea
    (4) Cyprus (14) Romania
    (5) Ethiopia (15) Russia

All existing visas attached to the passports/travel documents issued by Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates prior to this temporary suspension remain valid.

That is also posted on the IATA travel documents site with latest changes on Friday 13 March. Nothing extra has been posted concerning flight arrivals. Unless one of the mentioned countries you have to fill in a self declaration of health, confirm you haven't been to one of the listed countries in the last 14 days and tell authorities where you are staying.

I don't know what happens with tour groups or hotel accommodation. I do know I have to self isolate at home for 14 days.

Are flights still coming in from Europe with non Thai citizens? Tourists can rebook on Thai Airways anytime until Dec 31 and only pay mark up for high season fares.

Well, it isn't the consulate staff manning the immigration booth when you arrive.
Get the certificate, the insurance is cheep and you can probably buy it at arrival.
Almost all banks now sell a corona insurance covering 100.000 baht for hospital cost or 1.000.000 baht for death. Costs around 900 baht.

    Coronavirus
There is an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), including in Thailand.

The Thai authorities have introduced a number of screening, surveillance, prevention and control measures to limit the spread of the virus, and additional measures may be introduced. You should comply with any additional measures put in place by the local authorities.

Passengers who travelled from or transited China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Italy, Iran and South Korea in the 14 days prior to their arrival in Thailand: Thai authorities have screening measures in place. They may quarantine some passengers either in designated facilities or require them to self-isolate at home/accommodation. This would be for a minimum of 14 days from the date of their arrival in Thailand or until their departure, if sooner. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand have also instructed airlines not to fly passengers to Thailand from these countries unless they are in possession of a health certificate confirming they do not have coronavirus. You should check with your airline before you travel.

Passengers who have travelled from or transited the United Kingdom, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States of America in the 14 days prior to their arrival in Thailand: Thai authorities have screening measures in place. These measures may include self-monitoring for 14 days and reporting symptoms to Thai health authorities.

Thai authorities may introduce further measures including a requirement for travellers to report their health status and symptoms to Thai health officials via a mobile application. You can monitor the latest updates from Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health on its website, and refer to their Q&A for travellers.

If you’re returning to the UK from Thailand, consult the latest advice from the Department of Health and Social Care on actions you should take.

Further information on coronavirus, including advice on preparing for foreign travel and helping reduce the spread of the virus, is available from Public Health England and on the TravelHealthPro website.

You can find more information about cases in Thailand on the TravelHealthPro website.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that his government is ready to close the country’s borders to all foreign arrivals, if the COVID-19 pandemic worsens to Stage 3.

Sounds like it was needed to be purchased before it became a pandemic.

"With this waiver, medical coverage is now applicable to customers who purchased Etiqa’s annual travel policies or certificates, and for those who purchased single trip travel policies or certificates prior to the World Health Organization (WHO) pandemic announcement on March 11."

Not many from close to 200 countries, and while small islands should be pretty safe one could be forgiven for expecting some of the others not to have the understanding, competence or resources to know wtf is being spread on their turf.

Might as well go with the safe option, the country won't be running out of fruit or veg anytime soon.

    From today's web surfing:

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand now requires air passengers, Thai and foreign, travelling from 15 countries to show Covid-19-free health certificates and Covid-19 insurance before boarding their flights to Thailand.
This clarifies earlier reports that all passengers boarding at all points would have to present the documents.
CAAT governor Chula Sukmanop announced the condition, and other requirements, on Wednesday as part of government efforts to contain novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19). The requirements were set to take effect on Saturday.
He said arriving passengers who were in China, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Macau or South Korea in the past 14 days will be quarantined. These areas were defined as disease infected zones.
Mr Chula said that when passengers check in, airlines must check whether they had visited Covid-19 epidemic areas in the previous 14 days.

    How the situation changes!

As of this morning, now ALL incoming passengers MUST have:

    1. a certificate to confirm they are not carrying the COVID-19 virus
    2. a health insurance policy value minimum 100,000USD and specifically including COVID-19

These docs are checked by the airline BEFORE you fly. No have? cannot board the aircraft

In effect, Prayut has closed the airport without having to state that it is closed.

Both the test and the insurance are extremely hard to come by.

I am particularly interested in a previous comment on this thread which said that the insurance was easy to get for 900 thb, or something like that...

Specifically, who is offering that insurance and where can i buy it?!

....as far as i can tell, neither of these new requirements are easy to come by!

I suspect if that insurance was available a few days ago it either isn't now or has so many exemptions as to make it a legal scam.

Most countries only perform the COVID-19 test when symptoms are present. They don't usually waste a kit on someone with a better than 50% chance of not having the disease.
Therefore, that certificate is going to be hard to get.
We should be getting news reports soon on the chaos at check-in and immigration counters.

My confusion is, as ever, profound. I can't fly to Australia in April as planned so no meds for me but I have always made my trips coincide with the 90 day visa trip.
    Thai Authorities say and I quote ;

    Hello XXXXXX XXXXXX,

Thai Immigration Consultant replied to your comment on
COVID-19 Guide for Travelers to and in Thailand:

As per your non-immigrant visa, you are only allowed to stay for 90 days per entry. If you need to exit and your flight to Australia has been canceled, you can extend your stay for 7 days at your local immigration office. You may also do a quick border run if the borders are still open.

    You can view it here:
COVID-19 Guide for Travelers to and in Thailand | ThaiEmbassy.com"

So I pop up to Mae Sai to do a standard visa pop, in and out. Do I have to have a cert for this? Insurance? I'll be out of LOS for about an hour max.

    I've no idea.

I'm going from Thailand to Thailand !
