    Fever every week

My new GF has a fever every week.

Every time she goes to a hospital (BNH mind you) they say it's nothing and just give her antibiotics.

I thought private, somewhat expensive hospitals in Thailand are not run by idiots, but I guess I'm wrong.

What could this be? She thinks it's alergies or her tonsils, but me being a hypochondriac I think it's something more sinister.

She needs to fly with me to KL so I am a little concerned.

    Just my guess.

    Periodic Fever Syndrome
Periodic fever syndromes and other autoinflammatory diseases are increasingly recognized in children and adults, especially as causes of recurrent fevers. Individually they are rare, but a thorough history and physical examination can lead to their early recognition, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment.

    Finally!

    A match made in heaven.

Don't get jealous of each other's prescriptions, now.

You may be misunderstanding which part of this process is 'idiotic'.

Has she had an HIV test ? Seriously...

How about malaria ? If she has had it previously, the fever does recur.

Is the fever from Dengue recurrent ? I can't remember.

There are 4 variations of Dengue Fever. You cannot get the same variation a second time. Dengue can only be confirmed after 4th day of fever.

I still go for Periodic Fever Syndrome.

The initial attack of FMF is often in early childhood; 80%-90% are < 20 years of age at onset of symptoms. The disease is characterized by recurrent attacks of fever >38°C and abdominal pain for 1-3 days repeating every 3-8 weeks. Patients are asymptomatic and in generally good health between attacks.

I had a nasty fever about 2 weeks after returning from Thailand, The wife gave me some chinese herbs and I felt well enough to travel to France for a bit of skiing. After an exhausting business meeting in Milan I am home feeling much better

You are so lucky YD. To find another hypochondriac to spend your days with is beyond belief. Hours of pleasure sitting close and discussing your symptoms. Glad you were able to find true love.

Take her to Bangkok Christian. It is just across the road from BNH.

Perhaps she's old enough to do this stuff on her own?

After all, she'd probably have to under 10 to benefit from having YD with her.

Interesting opinion. Frequently spend time reading the posts in several US military veterans expat groups and can’t recall ever reading negativity about these two.

No, me neither except for the price.

I have heard it said that Samitivej is just as good as Bumrungrad for less money.

I have had both good and bad experiences in the pst as regards Bumrungrad.
These days I use Samitivej on Sukhumvit and for both occasions I have used them I have been very happy with the service and cost.

Basically as regards hopsitals it all boils down to the doctor. Most doctors work at more than one place so once you have found the doctor then it is worth asking where they have surgeries
