I think that's just been lifted.
ETA - confirmed. British people can donate blood in Australia after mad cow disease ban is lifted | news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site
I have a nearly 16 year old Thai step-grandson with Thalassemia. He's had about 30 blood transfusions in his life as he makes crap blood. I'm very grateful for those who donate blood in Thailand.
Hit the bronze award today for 10 donations, only 7mins 40 seconds for extraction.
Felt a bit dizzy since, almost pissed like.

Sunderland supporter?
It's the same age in Laos, but I lie about my ageSame goes for me. Why the fcuk don't they put a sign up indicating the cut off age? 60 in Ting Tong Land. The nurse/registration staff never ask to see your passport, so when asked for my date of birth I sort of go "...er....." as I work out a suitable year. I'm now touching 65 and I've been lying to them for the past 6 years or so! Last time the nurse said "you seem to be younger than last time" and smiled knowingly....
The reason I give lie is firstly because I'm reasonably fit and healthy and secondly the shortage of blood here in Luang Prabang is acute. When the kids smash themselves up their motorbikes the call goes out by telephone for those on 'the list' to come to the hospital asap to donate blood. I'm on the list as being contactable 24/7.
I also get a free t-shirt each time I donate blood, which means that I have avoided buying a new shirt for the past 5 years

Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile
Good show Simon.
I think the cut off age in the UK is 70 , that's if you've been a regular donor.
Done my bit again today, took 9 minutes this time which is average..
Dogs can donate also..

Saw this today and thought you might like to read it, Joe.
Doing good is good for you, research shows
If you want to increase your happiness and well-being, spend your money, time or energy on someone else.
Research consistently finds that acts of altruism, such as donating money, volunteering or giving blood, benefit both the receiver and the giver — even when the giver does not expect anything in return.
“Finding joy in helping others is fundamental to who we are as a species,” said Elizabeth Dunn, a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia.

Interesting article and a lot of truth to it imhe.
Cheers.
Decided not to clench today and just go with the flow.
Took 10 minutes 30 seconds.
Didn't break any records but the job was done.
Apparently there is a 15 minute cut of limit , not sure about elsewhere in the world.
A lady who came in at the same time got rejected because of low iron levels, she seemed pretty cheesed off being rejected after making the effort . Understandable really, but safety first.
They check your iron by taking a pin prick drop from a finger and drop it into a test tube of liquid.
If you drop of blood sinks to the bottom of the test tube then I presume your iron content in your blood is heavy enough and you're good to donate.
Relaxed vibe in here today, with some Madness on the radio and chilled out staff..
Plenty of tasty snacks afterwards .
Shalom
6 minutes 11 seconds today..
