    Something in the Whey

    No, not that.

The stuff that seems to be all the rage in the halls of the TD gym nowadays.

    so wot's it all about?

Would be taken in a regime of 7am coffee, 8am Whey powder shake with milk, banana, blueberries, mango etc. Then a 30-40 minute jog 3-5km at 8:30am.

In the bastardized words of a Trainspotting character, 'It's tailor fookin;' made for your needs ken'?

Much difference between that a bowl of cornflakes with said fruit and milk. Or a sneaky omelette with bacon and cup o' tea?

Would be hoping to buy online in Thailand or a shop in Chiang Mai.

    Cheers.

Well, curiously since Dill's been troughing it he's taken to pillow biting and now seems to have flounced along with Syb - seems dangerous to me.

    It's protein innit.

To be used as a supplement cos it can actually be difficult to eat enough wholefoods to get adequate protein although it's often misunderstood and mischaracterized -- e.g. just taking heaps of protein won't build muscle, it'll more likely make you fat.

Don't worry about timing it doesn't really matter unless you're some super keen competitor or something.

Also move bitch get out do whey me and my manly bag of protein scoff derisively at your girly little tub:

    Haha

    ^^^

I'm doing this stuff at the moment, seems pretty good. The shop is only about 500 metres from where I live, however I see on their site they do delivery, normally next day.

    Some information here:

I'm not looking to build muscle, or fat. I'm more into slim and toned.

Reading about it on here from Chitty, Cujo and Dill, the general gist I picked up was it gives you energy for working out, and it fills you up so you eat less. Both points being good for weight loss and trimming up via exercise and diet.

Is it generally seen as worthwhile for someone doing cardio (jogging) every morning, in a fruit milk shake, as opposed to a bowl of cereal with fruit?

    Cheers.

In that case (cardio alone) I probably wouldn't bother to be honest unless you want it for the convenience of a quick snack / shake or whatever.

It's useful for weight loss in certain circumstances like satiating hunger as you've mentioned but if your goal is just to be slim and lean you can probably get adequate protein intake from just whole foods (which should always be the first priority anyways).

If you're doing weights as well then different story because that's going to require a higher protein intake just to preserve muscle mass even if your goal isn't to build it.

Nothing specific just beyond making sure you're hydrated I suppose. Some electrolytes pre or post maybe.

I have some of this stuff. It's not the best I've ever bought but it's all I can get locally. It's expensive (about 1700-1800 baht for 900g) and does not mix well in water or milk.
I only use it for convenience. It is much quicker and easier to consume 25g of protein in a drink than eating a chicken breast or cooking a lump of pork.

Ant, do you think it's worth taking creatine 30 mins before a jog?

    Cool.

And does it fill you up as much?

No. Your body produces its own creatine and is used for short bursts of energy/power. You won't need any extra for a jog.

It is a bit filling because it comes in the form of a 200-400ml drink, usually the higher amount because it doesn't mix well with the liquid so I need to keep adding more liquid. So the answer is probably yes.

It’s not going to hurt but as Nev’s pointed out not necessary either.

The key with creatine is just to reach a saturation point so the timing of it isn’t critical at all as long as you’re taking it consistently.
