In my annual due diligence investigation concerning medical insurance prices I came across this the other day.

Of general interest to all in that this shows some “current” 2019 pricing for medical procedures at a couple of Bangkok Hospitals.

I ask anyone who has had any “major” medical expenditures to provide the standard, what, when, where and cost. Also, any comments you may have concerning your personal opinion of the care you received, the medical professionals that serviced you and your general analysis and your overall “satisfaction” with your medical treatment.

Thank you in advance – mine and my wife’s experiences are minimal, just general well-being testing and diagnostics, all outpatient stuff. Wife’s full well-woman exam including mammo and pap smear at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital ran THB 20k. I had blood in urine (small kidney stones) urinalysis and ultrasound diagnostics at Kasemrad International Hospital Nonthaburi. Cost, again, about THB 20k. In both cases I was satisfied with the results, service and cost. Only comment is in language skills. You should prep your Thai medical lingual skills. Communications is always a factor.

Prices of Hospital Procedures

Note: Ministry of Commerce announced that the central committee on pricing of goods and services’ meeting has agreed to authorize the Department of Internal Trade to implement control measures for pricing of medicine, medical supplies and medical services. This news was first mentioned in January 2019. Hospitals are fighting control over pricing of medications, procedures and medical services. Actually, as of May 2019 less information over pricing is available than was until a few years ago. Bangkok General Hospital seems to be one of the few major hospitals listing prices for many procedures. We did not see any relevant info on the websites of Bumrungrad Hospital, BNH Hospital or Samitivej Hospital.

As for info about the pricing of medication, that is missing. It is well known that private hospitals charge sometimes exorbitant prices for drugs at their pharmacies, when compared with the prices charged at pharmacies outside the hospitals.
We suggest you scroll down till you find the pricing at Bangkok General Hospital. These are prices as quoted in 2019 and can act as a guide for overall medical expenses in Thailand.
