    More Medical Incompetence

Some medical care in Thailand is excellent

Some medical care is very affordable even without insurance

I have not posted for a while and was banned from the other forum for being too outspoken, where I used to post under the name al007, I posted extensively on my own experiences with both prostate and colorectal cancer

My cancers despite annual medicals and hospital visits were missed by thee doctors, one MRI and one CT scan

I am posting today since a dear friend of mine from Norway, had been a patient of a large national chain of hospitals in Thailand, averaged 200,000 batt plus per annum over five years, had MRI, s and saw several specialists

For a variety of reasons he returned to Norway a couple of months ago, he was about to come back for another check up when he wife suggested maybe he go to his local hospital, in Norway, they uncovered stage three cancer and he was dead in a matter of days

This had all been missed here in Thailand

I want to say what I personally do to try and see this does not happen to me a second time, I have a colorectal surgeon, an oncologist, a chemo specialist, and an urologist at chulalongkorn in Bangkok, In KhonKaen, I am enrolled in the palliative care part, I have regular tests at three monthly intervals, I chart my own results, and understand them, I constantly question my specialists, something unusual in Thailand, many treat the doctors like gods and question nothing, I am due two more MRIs in december, I have a prostate specialist in India, as thailand is behind, my colorectal man is top of his field world wide

So far some three years into these cancers, and 13 hrs on the operating table, a colostomy bag, a lot of chemo, and continued monitoring I am doing pretty well; I have declined to have more surgery, and also decided to have no more chemo, all carefully thought out, I have a great deal of knowledge on these matters and will willingly help or advise anyone facing some of these problems, if appropriate either email me, al007@live.com or send me a private message. I have referred a few people to my Prostate surgeon in india, and my oncologist and colorectal surgeon both in Bangkok

Good on you, Al. We had a forum member (Birding) pass away from cancer recently, and many of us are getting on in years.

Remember when you have an MRI or scan, ask and keep a copy of the results, they can then if wished be sent for second opinion, large files but using google drive can still be sent

If you think you might have a negligence case make sure you have copies of all documentation, as it will suddenly get lost, I made a successful claim against a hospital and their files and papers proved my case conclusively

good to see you back Al - but you would probably be dead before you got compensated - better to be just well informed in the first place

Doctor at Ubonrak hospital (private, expensive) severely misdiagnosed CHF and said it was acid reflux. Gained 10kg of water in a week, couldn't breath when lying down, feet were too big for shoes, etc. He still claimed it was reflux. On death's doorstep I finally went to another doctor, she properly diagnosed the problem. She then went to the hospital and tore the doctor a new one.
I went back to the hospital 3 months later for something else, they had "LOST" all my previous records.

Smashed up my leg and ankle on the motorcycle. Go Back to the same hospital or sit with 500 sick people all day long in a govt hospital.

Better medical care is the strongest argument in favour of living in Bkk, and arguably Pattaya.

With limited mobility you presumably had little or no choice but to return to the same quackery.

Makes sense, I've had negligence issues with all of Pattaya's main hospitals, but in the case of urgency would have to choose one, or as the man said risk rotting in the waiting room of a gov joint.
