Thread: BACK PAIN

thanks guys for all the replies,the wife has read them all,and to put in perspective its nothing to what some of you are having to put up with.

I used Piroxicam on and off for a couple of years. It gave me no side effects at all, not even mild stomach upset (which is the most common one). However it only half worked.

I gave it up after discovering that my tight lower back muscles (due to inflammation) responded much better to regular magnesium supplements. Really well.

I'll have to try the magnesium. I did start taking 1 turmeric capsule a day to help with the arthritis inflammation. Not sure that it's doing any good though. Maybe I need to take more.

The very worst thing that I ever did with my back was going for a Thai massage. Some untrained idiot pressing on my bulging disc and trying to tickle my testicles from behind had me in agony.

A funny little episode that happened during a stop over in Vienna during my latest flight. Standing in line for security check had given me quite a back pain. Lying down with my legs up helps. So I laid on the floor with my legs on one of those small tables beside the seats.

But then a young and quite good looking cleaning lady of african descent came along and resolutely told me the floor is not for lying down and I need to move. She advised me that going along the line of terminals I would find couches where I can lay down comfortably. So far that was common courtesy. But a short time after I laid down at one of the couches she came looking for me, bringing me a blanket. She did not just give it to me, she actually covered me with the blanket while I was lying there. Just lacking the good night kiss.

I guess my somewhat awkward standing up from the floor made her think it may be much worse than it actually was. Still a very nice thing to do, way beyond her duties.
