The word "on the street" is that 80% of the population are "lacking"...And it is quite difficult to balance your diet to give you the optimal amount necessary...
As far as an excess amount is concerned:
"The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for magnesium is between 350 and 400 milligrams per day, which is just enough to ward off outright deficiency. But for optimal health and for the twenty-two conditions that are triggered by magnesium deficiency, perhaps twice as much magnesium is needed. One of the highest sources of magnesium is kelp, but one tsp. only has about 30 milligrams. One tablespoon of almonds has 33 milligrams. Because we probably don’t get nearly enough magnesium from our diet we have to investigate magnesium supplements."
Disclaimer: (heh)
I'm not a "freak" for the supplement game...I believe that a good active lifestyle is the true miracle, both physically and mentally...And let's throw in the "emotional factor," as well, however you want to describe it, just to complete the trilogy...
Thus far, I agree with the great sleep benefits...I've only just started, yet the results are pretty profound...Woke up again this morning with much vigor and a cool dream lingering on my mind, at the risk of waxing poetical...
The spring in my step, as I call it, is my personal focus here...Your mileage may vary...However, the added, and very major bonus of restful sleep, is right up there with it (not that I'd even considered that aspect since I thought my sleep was okay)...And the mental and "emotional" parts all follow, hand in hand...
Linked to heart attacks and the galloping trots. Ill stick to bamanas.

Why Take Zinc & Magnesium Supplements?
By Nadia Haris Aug 14, 2017
Zinc and magnesium are essential minerals that your body needs from your daily diet. Magnesium is vital to every organ, including the heart, muscles, kidneys and bones. Zinc plays a key role in normal development and growth and keeps your immune system working optimally. It is rare to have a deficiency of zinc or magnesium. But your doctor may recommend taking supplements for nutritional reasons or to help treat and prevent certain health conditions.
AMOUNTS AND SOURCES
Your doctor may recommend zinc and magnesium supplements if you have a very low-nutrient diet. Adults require 310 to 400 milligrams of magnesium per day. This mineral is found in a range of foods such as whole grains, green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, bananas, potatoes and chocolate. Zinc is found in fewer foods including red meat, poultry, oysters, beans, whole grains and dairy. Only a trace amount is needed, however; adults should get 8 to 12 milligrams of zinc per day.
CAUSES OF A MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, low magnesium is usually due to a medical condition. These include intestinal viruses that upset the balance of magnesium by causing diarrhea or vomiting and digestive diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome that hinder its absorption. Diabetes, pancreatitis, high thyroid levels and kidney disease can also cause a magnesium deficiency. Additionally, you can get a magnesium deficiency due to excess coffee, alcohol, soda, salt, sweating and excessive prolonged self fornication [/QUOTE]
Interesting thread and am persuaded to give it a try. My local health factory is trying to sell me magnesium oil, don't know the %% and label's in Thai so can't read the other ingredients. Any suggestions, or Pattaya sources?
I can't speak authoritatively about the oil but have always got the impression it was a bit hyped-up and therefore expensive. Also, mainly for extreme cases where it is needed in one area only for fairly quick muscular relief.
Now then, now then, Milk of Magnesia is truly one of Gods gifts to mankind.
Suffering from "blockage", a bit of "compaction" going on there, Your excessive use of morphine tablets and liquids causing a bit of a back up for 9 days (my record) "Milk of Magnesia" does the trick.
A healthy slug before bed and, within 12 hours, you will be punishing your sewerage system.
I had to buy a plunger to clear the damn down pipes as I was producing such extraordinary deposits.
