    Health Insurance for My Handbag.

Can anyone recommend an Insurance company in Bangkok who is reputable and has a decent premium.

I don't know if you have used a hospital or clinic in Bangkok but it's often worth asking them which insurance companies are the most fair and responsive to the claimant.

If she has a job with a half-decent company she'll have decent insurance already.

If she's not working - I have no idea

She runs her own show so that don't work.

I never thought about this aspect before but if she gets seriously sick I will be paying same as most of us round eyes.

Don't think I'll be bundling her off to a Government hospital.

Considering I do not speak Thai and never had to consider health insurance for a Thai National it's a bit of a hard one.

    Bupa, IAI, Bank insurance ???

    Fooked if I now.

Just make sure she pays her taxes

They are minimal and she will be covered.

My misses earns 30k a month and pays about 1k in tax.

Her and both kids are covered medically (exceptionally if I may say) for this measley sum.

    Worth a look into.

Does she have a big family? My handbags family have a finger in most pies from longtail boat hire to health insurance. Uncle is a car dealer and grandma runs the local credit union.
Failing that I would go with Bower and ask the local hospitals. Makes a lot of sense.

Yes but the coverage is very basic.

Anything serious goes down and it's game on.

Can always bunk down to the Government hospital but if the shit hit the fan I doubt anyone with a serious partner will bang her up there.

Hence I feel I need to get serious and get decent Insurance for her.

    Fookin hard one innit.

If you can afford to get her a first class policy then cool, but if she's a good 'n' and is working hard and playing by the rules - she will be looked after.

Nope, her family are in Nakon Sawan.

She has been supporting herself in Bangkok for many years.

Now she is my responsibility so I will be paying.

    Way it is.

    Spot on there Mate.

I've set my Handbag up with a very nice Will so if I kick she is in the money and now I'm looking after her health just in-case shit happens.

I recon I am far ahead of these tossers who marry their Hangbags but leave them only 30 baht when they die.

My intentions are solid unlike many of the other paupers.

Marriage is so yesterday, any fuker can do it.

I'm only interested in the nasty stuff, all the little stuff treated as an out Patient I will pay cash.

    No probs there.

Here within lies my problem, trying to decipher the different plans and exclusions.

The funny thing is it has only been the last week where the penny has dropped that I will be paying for her if the shit hits the fan.

The way these Private hospital charge over here a serious illness is very fookin frightening to the pocket.

    Much rather pay up front.

    A. Did you make a Will in Thailand? If so, this will entitle her to the contents of your condo.

    B. Or are you saying that you made your Will in Australia to leave a Thai - non relative Aussie assets?

    C. Or are you just blabbering a whole lot of shite?

terry needs his own health insurance, with special cover for stroke due to the brewing apoplectic rage that he is bound to suffer as iceman and the jeff eventually wind him up to breaking point.

AIA are fine and cheap, lots of agents around Bkk. I think their main office is (or used to be anyways) in ASOK between soi Cowboy and the Robin Hood pub.

Joking aside Terry, I would be very careful about who you pick. Informal chats with hospitals have led me to believe that many Thai Insurance companies will take your money but not honour the insurance when needed.

The German Embassy will only accept certain companies for health insurance when visiting and it is not because they are German based companies...they have simply had enough with non payouts from Thai based Companies.

I am not going to tell you which Companies are good and which are bad because I don't know and it would be wrong of me to pooh pooh ones that I have not had dealings with.

I would simply be careful and spend some time checking before picking one.
