so it's not really for 10 stitches, it's 47,000 baht for two days stay and medication, and care etc.Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon
Sounds about right.

Any chance of giving more information regards the charges. Break the costs down.
Even for a top private hospital that cost is high unless one was in ICU.
same thing mate
they kept her in because they were taking the piss
surgery costs were 30,000 plus
for a few fukking stitches
our kids cost less FFS

Cost me 90,000 baht to sew my arm back on (well half of it) and hundreds of stitches internally and externally.
One night in jail and I was out.
Did a good job and I am starting to play drums half decent again.
Sounds over the top unless they had to reconnect tendons etc.
i did my foot about 7 years ago
17 stitches and about 1900 of bahts then i went home
pulled them out myself too
First rule in Thailand? Pick the right hospital? Not the biggest swankiest one.
The usual answer for broken stuff is a Government/Army/Air-force Hospital?
she thought our insurance only counted in one hospital apparently
she is a banana
McCormick isn't swanky, quite the opposite. More information required.
Got 3 or 4 stitches in my head, local amphor hospital, think 250 Baht for the pills, needle work free.
no...it used to be reasonableOriginally Posted by Begbie

2,000 a night or so and whatever ancillary charges they threw on...drugs and stuff i expect
she had wifi though
posted pics of her tootsies on facebook
and they even wanted to keep her in for a third night ffs
I broke my back (L3) here in Phuket years ago; they flew in a specialist from bkk. 5 hours in surgery. 2 days in ICU. About a week in hospital, lots of morphine., 450k baht. Would've cost 100k dollars in the USA.
^^
i think they drugged her up and she thought the insurance would cover it but it didn't go the whole way
i think she ended up paying around 8,000 baht but the point remains
it's a pisstake
it's also one of the few things i miss about the UK
the NHS and cricket
The Thais have adopted all that is wrong with the american health care system without much of the good. Good for those owning the hospitals and the doctors.
I will admit that I did get sufficiently fed up with one doctor at a private hospital here with the 'extra's he was pushing that I did turn round to him and as is this medically necessary or do you simply need the commission to pay your car loan? wasn't received well.
personally Ive used the local university hospitals chula and mahidol when possible

they diagnosed my wife with a broken arm when she had a sprained wrist
i went all apeshit and demanded the x rays which showed no break whatsoever
she was mortified by my behaviours but i was right
