We had a situation were wife's father needed Emergency treatment we took him to some private hospital in Yasothon, were he got wrongly diagnosed,By a junior doctor then they moved him to khon kaen and then he got moved to Ubon general and the cheeky bstards tried to charge me 65,000 baht I kicked up a stink, and told them junior doctors shouldn't be making a diagnosis.

The father got kept in hospital for a week or so, the Yaso hospital kept ringing Ubon, the Ubon doctor asked us why they were keeping on ringing when we informed why,he must of said something to Yaso Hospital as when i went back to cause murder, they backed right off.

And asked me how much I thought was fair, ended up paying 15 grand.

The wife went mad with me,as she'd never heard of anyone questioning a doctor before. told her well you pay the fuckers then, that put a stop to that.

Sounds over the top unless they had to reconnect tendons etc.

    i hate private medication
Laminectomy in Lanna Hospital. In for one week. Private room. All the morphine I could take. Other than the private room, which was B500 a night, I didn't pay a single satang. Also took one week from diagnosis to surgery. Thai social security, pisses on what's available in the UK.

If you're working legally you should have social security, it provides excellent cover. If you're Thai but not working you can easily find an employer who will stick you on their books and allow you to pay your monthly social security tab through them, it starts at about B150 a month (my knowledge of costs is a few years out of date now) and you won't find a better basic health insurance option anywhere in country.

When i was recently suggesting to someone to take up loytoy's offer to help with finding a lawyer.... i thought i was being very nice and restrained by not taking the opportunity to also recommend not taking any DIY tips from loy toy other than not playing with angle grinders.
