Mame sure you understand the difference between rheumatoid arthritis and osteo arthritis. The causes and treatments are different.

As long as it's arthritis, rather than arthrosis, it can be improved through dietary therapy. Used to know folks in London to consult (I had clicking joints back then). It's a very strict diet with supplements, done it for half a year and the arthritis was gone.

Back now after decades of drug & alc abuse though.

Arthritis in the knees is endemic amongst Thai women, usually starts in their 40s, mine got it as well. Just like Western birds get thyroid problems.

What they actually do well is diagnosis. The treatment is a different kettle of fish.

What I'd like to stress is that self-diagnosis of either yourself or your wife can take you down the wrong path completely, and waste time, mental/emotional energy and money. Just because it seems to be one thing does not mean it is. For instance, you or your wife could be suffering the after-effects of dengue.

Are your muscles tight ? Do you get cramps, particularly in your calves ? Many people (esp as they get older) are deficient in magnesium. I cured 5 years of back pain by taking magnesium tablets....but preferably they should be ones with it in a few different forms, in case your body does not absorb one form very well.

That has no connection, one of those silly self-treatment things.

Do you know that Magnesium is missing?

Why not do a websearch on diets for arthritis?

I have arthritis in the hands and fingers. It is much worse during the winter months, one reason why I like to be in Thailand in Dec/Jan.

I started playing the piano in September. Despite a complete lack of timing, I manage to get through all the major scales and a few Hanon series every day (about 1 hour a day) and it has worked wonders with the fingers. Very little pain nowadays and no diabetic nails anymore.

There is not so much of it in the modern diet, especially in market garden - grown vegetables.
It's less well absorbed from food as people get older.
And taking a few cheapish tablets can do no harm, as it is not possible to overdose.

CMN, make sure your wife's tablets have Mg in a few different forms, and be aware that magnesium oxide is the least well-absorbed form. Even some famous manufacturers include it though because it's cheap.

I'm not surpised with the amount of squatting that they do.

what's the best holistic remedy that works?
CMN you really should consider the link I sent you, sounds like you surely would benefit from what i said.
Yeah. The 10 years locked up in a small cell with 50 murderers while surviving on a daily bowl of rotting fish-heads seasoned with gaoler's phlegm should take his mind off the arthritis. What kind of dickhead would recommend illegal drugs to a person living in a country with some of the harshest drug laws and most corrupt police on the planet?

I was tested by the NHS about 12 years ago to exclude rheumatoid arthritis. Chroinic osteoarthritis is usually age related and caused by wear and tear. For major joints like knees and hips, joint replacement is the most effective treatment. The NHS has age limits for replacement joints but that should not be a problem here.
Improved weather and low impact exercise opportunities here have helped my chronic condition enormously. I gave up running a few years ago but cycling and swimming are great all round.

Bob your such a drama queen, do you not have any savvy about you at all, the shit people pump into themselves does more harm than good.

Anyone that happens to have an ounce of sense would know you do things discreetly, why suffer when theres an option,if you read up on the subject you may find it helps many.

And what, you fool, does any of that have to do with the very harsh sentences in Thailand for possession of Marijuana? I have said nothing about its effectiveness. I'm just pointing out the consequences of being caught in possession of weed in Thailand. Are you really so brain-damaged that you can't tell the difference? You are hardly a good advertisement for regular usage of weed, pretty much the opposite really. You come across as the kind of example used to warn people away from marijuana during the Reagan years.

Ah yes, the discrete smell of skunk wafting across the rice-fields. Nobody would ever know what that was, they'll probably confuse its subtle aroma with that of ice-cream, or the smell of rain on a sunny day, or a freshly rumpled whore. You twat!
