I'm new to this and kick myself that I didn't hear about this before.

Here in Australia, I use the cheepo's from where ever, I only need them for reading and close up work. There are those that say they damage your eyes, I have been wearing cheepo's for some 25 years, my eyed are still excellent for my age. I have had 2 optomist's tell me, if the suit you wear them. The tale said by some is, they will damage your eye's, in my oppinion is hog wash.
Note, I wear my cheepo's maybe 12 hrs a day.

That was lenses only using my existing frames which I scratched up.

I pay Australian about $ 4.00 that's why I have about 30 sets at different places, with different strength's, to watch TV, in the workshop in the car, two sets in my jackets, 4.00 for looking for metal splinters and working on very fine stuff, I am never without,

Ah ok. Yeah mine was lenses + rims.

Pretty limited selection as well. Something to do with the shape of progressive lenses. Did you strike that issue?

I don't go for the narrow styles so I've never had a problem.

Progressive lenses are expensive. They make a seamless transition from distance to mid-range to reading. Add astigmatism and a strong prescription and the cost goes up dramatically.

Was talked into buying a pair a few months ago. Hate the frigging things.

I have a normal wear pair (short sighted) and a pair for working on the computer (long sighted!). Got the progressive lenses for the computer work. As said, hate them and spent half my time trying to work out where the focus area was as the screen kept going out of focus when my head moved....

Never again, and certainly will not try to get a pair for all situations.

Experienced that as well but it goes away after a while.

I just pay 300 baht for reading glasses from Top Charoen.

I only sit on them or leave them on bars anywhere

I paid 300 pounds for a pair of Armani in the UK. I got out of my car, walked in the house and realised I must have left them in the pub, so I jumped back in the car went back there, but they were nowhere to be seen, especially as I'm a blind cnut

Anyway I drove back home parked the car and on getting out of the car I spotted them all smashed to pieces next to the tyre.

I haven't bought a decent pair since.

I had a recent sight test and eye health check done at a long established opticians.
I have been using progressive lense for a few years now and the optician who knows me and the family very well said, the astigmatism in one eye will not benefit from any corrective lens in my case.
He recommended a corrective progressive lens on one side and a plain lens on the other. Saved me a few quid with that kind of honesty.
He was right too, I have not noticed any difference in visual acuity.
Happy for those who can save a few quid but I prefer honest professional advice and care done the old way.

I got a prescription from an optician a year ago and used that when ordering. This is the first time I'm doing it this way so I will have to judge the quality after I receive them.

Zenni Optical used Hong Kong Post to ship a set of replacement frames - $20 for the frames (1/2 off of the list price when ordering without lenses) and $10 for the shipping. Cleared through Thai Customs without a problem.

Ordered on the 7th, shipped on the 8th, arrived here in Buri Ram on the 16th. Easy to track through Hong Kong Post's website.
