I usually do somewhere between 35-40 mins for 6kms at an average pace of 8.6km an hour with occasional spurts up to 10/11 and dropping off to 6.5/7 with some uphill work. I set myself a target in terms of time to do each day and calories to burn (e.g one sausage butty ), so the distance doesn´t really bother me too much.

Today was "slightly more than half-hearted" though and I'm carrying a bit of tub so, err, worse.

I bet the dog loves that.

Mines getting on a bit now, one decent run a day for 15 minutes and hes relaxed for the rest of the day.

Yesterday, and after 8 hours of concreting and laying tiles I found myself marooned at the rental house without any transport to get home.

I decided to give walking home a go which is just over 10 kms so off I go.

1 and a half hours later I was sitting by the pool having a cold beer and I hardly raised a sweat.

So I have set myself a standard now and will start doing this more often to improve my time and become more familiar with the soi dogs along the route.

    My workout today-

Up at 3.15, car battery dead
Opened the shed and pulled out my immaculate road bike.
Two flat fukking tyres due to it not being ridden for a few months.
Went to pump the tyres up and the valves are too bastard small for my pump and I need an adapter.
Pumped my daughters mountain bike up and set sail for work.
The cunting saddle wouldn't stay up and it was like pedaling a kids friggin bmx for 3 miles
Got to work half hour late
Got put on a shit route
Finished work, managed to sort the seat out, then the fucking heavens opened up.
Pedaled to Halfords to get an adapter and the right fekkin pedal went at an angle and had to get off and push for a mile.
The guy at halfords reckoned it'll need a new chain and drive because its cross threaded.
Borrowed a spanner and cross threaded the fucker a lot more then pedalled the wonky fucking thing into town.
Have now stopped for a rest, the rains started again and I have 20 fucking minutes to get home before the AA arrive.
    I need a beer.

Mine is a hybrid, but have been thinking of getting a racing bike..just worried about my back and bending over that far.
Had to google Pavlova, thought it was a dog or a race car

Last night did a mega Zumba workout, 1 hour of Latin dance, had my watch on and burned 500 calories.
Also saw my heart rate was beyond high because of the high temperature and extreme workout.

    You wont regret it!

There's a big difference in what effect a road bike and a mountain bike have on you physique .

    Road biking makes you leaner.
