Quite clear you have not been back to Thailand in a year. We have not seen 25 as a low for 6 months.

They used it for Chris Froome's 80km solo breakaway in the 2018 Giro d'Italia, which has got to go down as the most powerful ride in the history of the sport. Google it. The bloke is fucking fire.

    Back to it.

Just saw me weight and fat% after 3 weeks of Euro 2021 and going to bed drunk at 4am every night.

It didn't do them any favours.

I mentioned buying a fancy gym some time ago to mixed opinions... but I went ahead and it arrived a few weeks ago.

I know that there's no magic answer to fitness and weight loss, but what the gym has done is motivate me to use it and sort myself out. The daughter enjoys it as well and we are both starting to gain the benefits.

A typical workout for me now is 20 minutes fast on the cross-trainer followed by around 30 minutes of random gym exercises (or reps, as they're called?). Then a 30 to 40 length swim which takes another 20 minutes. So, the whole lot finished in an hour and easy to fit in and done most days.

I went to the dentist yesterday and a pre-dentist weigh-in showed that I've lost around 7 to 8 kg over the last couple of months... I feel fitter and have even found myself running up stairs. I'm still drinking a couple Leos most evenings although am trying to convert from beer to wine, but in the conversion phase I seem to be drinking both.

Something else that has really pleased me... I've been taking low dose meds for mild hypertension for the past 2 or 3 years but my pre-dentist BP check showed 126/79 which was the lowest it's been for years and I was well chuffed. I'd forgotten to take my pill yesterday as well. Usually I'd be looking at high 130s or into the 140s and if it continues to stay low I hope to ditch the meds.

I don't think I can attribute my lower blood pressure just to the exercise though... I think my high blood pressure is mental as well as physical and as well as taking more exercise I've also been limiting my interactions with the wife and spending more time with the dogs.

Tonight I'm gonna have an extra Leo to celebrate... followed by a couple of glasses of Mont Clair!

For 3 years I have been doing exercise daily and have the same results as you. I have not stopped the BP meds but now take them every other day.

    Rep = repetition.

If you do one exercise (a bench press, for example) ten times in a row, that is 10 reps.

If you do 10 reps (a set of 10 repetitions of the same exercise) then take a short break then do another 10 reps of the same exercise, that is 2 sets of 10 (reps).

    Good job Mendy!!

    No pain no gain!

I reckon living in a sauna will have something to do with your weight loss.

I am normally up early and after taking the dog for a walk start my work program.

Yesterday I wheelbarrowed 10 full loads of sand about 500 metres which is hard work particularly as I have to negotiate 2 speed humps and an uphill section.

Then bucketed the sand into into a brick wall cavity and then done some more brickwork.

I try to plan it that I use different muscles for different tasks so I end up with a good workout with the end result being productive.

My son purchased a gym set and I have never used it as it bores me.

It's good for your muscle retention and produces cortisone a natural healer that produces endorphins for that feel good factor.

I can't wait to finish sweating my guts out and finish my mancave, then get the home gym installed.

Yesterday I did 30 min / sprint intervals outside between jogging/running.
HIIT is the best way to break through a plateau and increase your VO2 max.

Good start, Mendip! Maybe ease off on the alcohol. Alcohol just empty calories........ you know where the term beer belly comes from.

Nice equipment! Our gyms just reopened a few days ago, so itching to get in myself to get back on the weight machines.

followed by around 30 minutes of random gym exercises (or reps, as they're called?)
A good basic routine is push/pull.

Monday and Thursday - push - triceps, delts, pecs.
Tuesday and Friday - pull - biceps and back.
    Wednesday - legs.

Combined with daily cardio you'll continue seeing great results.

It was until I popped my back out 6 weeks ago. Myself and people heard it pop. So no structural or bone damage but muscles pulled, ligaments and tendons strained. I did a damn good job. Can get around and all but ache. So doing half the exercise I was. Only about 8 K a day. 5 K in the morning, and just 3 at night. Down from 20,000 steps a day to about 13 or maybe 15 thousand in a day. Dont be stupid and hurt yourself when you are getting older. Recovery is long and slow.

That is very frustrating. How did you pop it, AO?
