    Skin cancer

Recently i was advised to go have some dubious spots on various parts of my body checked for skin cancer, knowing full well i stood fuk all chance of finding a doc who knew anything about skin cancer or even general medicine at all in Vientiane i headed for Bumrungrad, the doctor i saw checked my whole body and found 4 areas that she reckoned was suspicious and needed a Biopsy to confirm, emailed me the results 2 days later and one of those little bastards is a basel cell carcinoma and needs to come off, i could of hung around bangkok and got on the piss with terry 57 and the fresh prince again and waited for the results. but i had shit to do at home.on friday i foolishly put my passport in for a vietnamese visa and wont get it back until teusday afternoon now, from what i can gather on the web this thing is unlikely to kill me but i wouldnt mind getting it sorted so it looks like another trip to bangkok will be required unless anyone knows if there is a skin doctor in udon or khon kean, The doctor i saw at bumgrabbers was called doctor chitralada vibaghool and seemed to know her stuff , if anyone needs to know where to get the check done,

I've used Bangkok Hospital in Phuket for other things, and my stepfather used them in BKK for leukemia treatment. They are excellent. They have a location in Udon:

Try asking her if she can recommend someone nearer to home for you?

If you can hold on a bit,.......

The girlfriend is contacting a close girlfriend (she's a doctor) in Khon Kean about a doctor that might be able to help. When I find out the doctors name, I will relay it to you.

Guy I knew in Miami, found out he had skin cancer,....six months later dead.

Many thanks for that s landreth , i would appreciate any info she can give me obviously it would be great to have the doctor who diagnosed it cut it out but if i can get it done closer to home with the same degree of professionalism as what i got at bumrungrad then that will be awesome, the area that the cancer is in is right on the bridge of my nose,so also hoping they dont fok up my brutally handsome good looks, LOL i wont have a passport to go anywhere until teusday afternoon when the viet embassy give me a visa for a quick trip to saigon on my next R&R ithink if i have to go to bangkok then i will but its not so much the hobbling about its the bloody pills im taking for it make me shit like a duck every 5 minutes, Nasty business when your travelling

Cheers for the advice s landreth and niddhog , will check back later

I wouldn't go anywhere near AEK Udon - money grabbing pisstakers they are.

    Bangkok Hospital also seems pricey.

    I always use Wattana.

Take your time and find the right place, BLD. Basal cell carcinomas are very slow growing. I've had 3 cut out. And I'd recommend finding a lady doctor....I had a mole cut out by one and she did it so carefully and meticulously that the scar is now invisible !

BCC is the least aggressive of skin cancers but is normally removed as a cautionary measure.

I've had many in the past 15 years and am still living and breathing very well so no real cause for concern and certainly not life threatening.

As you mentioned it was situated on your nose then i would agree that it requires removal as it will be constantly exposed to the sun. Others that appear on the body which is usually covered by clothing are of less concern.

I had an SCC removed in KK last year (University Hospital). Bit of a queue unfortunately so you may be better off enquiring at KK Ram Hospital. 043333800

Good luck BLD and dont forget the sunscreen

Try Aldara (brand name). It's a cream which you apply topically to treat BCC and SCC. I buy it online from India.

Yes I had that - more for sun damage than BCC. Quick and virtually painless!
Not sure I would want it on my beak - I would prefer a steady hand with a scalpel.

all good advice people, but the things on my hooter, if it was on my back or somewhere else i would say go for it, cut it out now, had a sun spot lasered of my nose in bangkok years ago, both the needle in the nose and the laser on the nose was painful as fuk and the end result to this day is a giant indentation on the hooter, dont want any more repeats of that yeah , but as mr lick has pointed out and from what i know from googling it, it wont kill me right quick so yeah better of finding someone to do the job right, fuk it maybe wait until i get back from vietnam, thats all booked. i guess it can wait a month, the report in the email only said should remove SOON, as an aside the consultation was 16000 baht for full body inspection and biopsy on 4 suspicious spots, not cheap but the company insurance will reimburse it

No offense mate, but cancer is a real bad time to start self diagnosing and self medicating.

Still, sure you can tell the difference between a BCC, SCC, Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, Merkel cell carcinoma, Kaposi's sarcoma, keratoacanthoma or a spindle cell tumor to name just a few types of skin cancer......

And if you can't, maybe watch where you give "advice" eh?

Used to use Efudex, but Aldara is much more effective with BCC.

If you want to go the surgery route, BRG is a good place to go. You might want to consider Mhos Surgery. Dr. Prayuth Chokrungvaranont is a visiting surgeon from Chula who can perform this type of surgery at BRG.

i think the surgery route is THE only way to go actually , the report stated ( i would post it but to much personnal info)

Basel cell carcinoma on nose and sebarrhelc keratosis (begign skin growth on chest , back, and thigh
Treatment/recomendation: the skin cancer should be removed by surgery SOON.
sounds like good advice to me, i would like it gone soon as well just need to arrange it, hopefully i will get a reply from them by tomorrow if they can recommend a competant doc a bit closer, if not its of to bangkok. where my liver will also likely take a hammering, keep ya, ll posted

I had some BCCs removed at Khon Kaen Hospital, not sure if there is more than one, though. About 18 months ago. Also had a fleshy nodule removed from my groin at same time (used to say it was my 'back up whanger - always got a larf). Two sweet ladies, dermo and attendant nurse (gave them both a leer ) and all done. Scabby for a few weeks, dont know what they did with my backup, probably got RSI from stroking it on lonely nights.

he doesn't need to know as the Doc has already diagnosed BCC

mind you, using a cream to treat BCC would be a waste of time unless it was just a sunscreen
    I have reported your post

Skin cancer can be pretty aggressive, this bloke is fighting for his life.

Save Locky's Dad shared the following link and had this to say about it:

Salon.com's Mary Elizabeth Williams wrote, 'Give Patients Unapproved Drugs!'

"...we need a better system for bringing promising treatments to the people who need them and are willing and eager to take the leap of faith with them, right now."

Give patients unapproved drugs! - Salon.com

Two years ago, Nick Auden was given a terrifying diagnosis of Stage 4 melanoma. Since then, the 40-year-old Denver father of three has fended off the disease... but his condition has now reached a place where time is running out.
Why fuck around? A trip to BKK is painful, but if that's the best care, then just do it.
